The Stars want Tim Thomas to give Kari Lehtonen some games off down the stretch and possibly challenge him for starts. "We had the opportunity to pick up a goalie who has won a Stanley Cup and has strong playoff experience," GM Jim Nill said. "Our team is serious about making the playoffs and making a statement in the playoffs, and this solidifies maybe the most important position on the team." Lehtonen has two games of postseason experience in his career, so Thomas could be an option for Dallas if they can secure a wild card spot. However, as far as the rest of the season goes, it's hard to see Thomas taking Lehtonen's job.
