Steve Mason will dress as the Blue Jackets' backup goalie Sunday against St. Louis. The good news is that he has recovered from his concussion. The bad news is that he has lost his starting job to a white hot Curtis Sanford. If you have Mason on your fantasy roster you will have to be patient until he gets the chance to regain his starting role. Even if he does wrestle the number one job back from Sanford, it is still Columbus he will be playing for.

Steve Mason is headache free and has passed a concussion test. Mason will serve as the Blue Jackets backup goaltender while Curtis Sanford will play between the pipes. Mason has gotten off to a rough start this season and it's entirely possible that Mason will lose the starting job before the season is over.

Steve Mason (concussion) is expected to participate in Saturday's practice. Mason was on the ice Friday and could be available for Sunday's contest. That being said, Curtis Sanford has been great and might be able to wrestle the starting job away from Mason.

Steve Mason's (concussion) condition might not be too serious, according to Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson. Howson also cautioned that concussions can be "tricky to predict." Mason didn't travel with the Blue Jackets to New Jersey for Wednesday's game. He might be back on Friday, but we wouldn't count on that. We'll keep you posted.

It is believed that Steve Mason suffered a concussion on Monday. Mason was struck in the head with a Rick Nash shot during pre-game warmups on Monday. Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson commented, saying "We all decided it would be better for him to not travel. He'll see a doctor (Wednesday) in Columbus and we'll take it from there. He could be in uniform on Friday (vs. Buffalo), but we don't know that yet." Curtis Sanford is expected to start in Mason's place until he's ready to return.

Steve Mason is out with a head injury after being hit by one of Rick Nash's shots during Columbus' Monday morning skate. Mason was able to skate off the ice without any help, but he has already been ruled out for Monday's game. "(Mason's) going to miss tonight and we'll re-evaluate him tomorrow," coach Scott Arniel said. "He got hit pretty good there, hit pretty hard."

Steve Mason is in a four-way tie for first place with 16 starts this season. In Mason's case, his playing time speaks more to the lack of a strong backup than his own performance. Mark Dekanich was supposed to serve as his backup, but he missed the start of the season due to a high ankle sprain and Dekanich recently sustained a groin injury while on a conditioning stint. Mason has a 3.63 GAA and .875 save percentage in 2011-12.

Steve Mason allowed three goals on 23 shots in a 4-2 loss to Minnesota Tuesday night. Even after his teammates jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and outshot the Wild 45-23, Mason was unable to earn a victory. Only those in desperate situations should consider starting him in fantasy leagues.

Steve Mason is the probable starting goalie for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who entertain the Minnesota Wild tonight. The Jackets are searching for their first back-to-back wins of the season. Mason was outstanding in stopping 35 shots in the Jackets' 2-1 over the Winnipeg Jets last Saturday night.

Steve Mason made 35 terrific saves in Columbus' 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night. Steve Mason has been desperate for a win and he finally found one. Unfortunately many Steve Mason owners have given up on the former rookie standout. Is this a sight of things to come or just a fluke, either way those fortunate enough to start Mason tonight must be delighted.
