Sean Monahan will join Team Canada for the 2014 World Championship. It's an opportunity for Monahan to continue playing after scoring 22 goals and 34 points in 75 games as a rookie with the Calgary Flames. "I'm looking forward to that," said Monahan. "It's an honor, obviously. It's your country. I've played for Canada before and it's always a lot of fun, so it's going to be a pretty awesome experience."

Sean Monahan scored his 21st goal of his rookie campaign on Wednesday. With that, Monahan scored the most markers of any Flames' rookie since Jarome Iginla also found the back of the net 21 times in 1996-97. Given what Iginla went on to accomplish in Calgary, reaching that mark means a lot to them. "It's pretty cool. Obviously, (Iginla) was a big part of this team and this franchise," Monahan said. "To be there, it's pretty special. It's an honor." It'd be wrong to compare him to Iginla at this stage of his career, but he does have potential. He's not a bad guy to take a chance on towards the end of fantasy drafts next season.

Sean Monahan potted his 20th goal of the season on Sunday. It's a good accomplishment for the rookie as the 20 goal mark is something most aspire to. He has 32 points in 68 games as he found the back of the net playing in Ottawa, where he starred in the OHL for the 67s the last couple of years. Monahan is worth grabbing next season as he has a bright future in The Show.

Sean Monahan will return to Ottawa for the first time since the Flames drafted him from the Ottawa 67s of the OHL in June. Monahan was a stud for the 67s as the Flames took him with the sixth pick in the draft. The 19-year-old has had a good first season in the NHL with 19 goals and 31 points in 67 games but has not garnered a point in his last five games. "It's gonna be a fun time and something I'm looking forward to," said Monahan. "I played in Ottawa for three years and met a lot of friends there, had billets there, stuff like that. Being able to have them at the game is going to be pretty special." He will face former Ottawa teammate Cecil Ceci for the first time on Sunday.

Sean Monahan had an assist in Calgary's 3-1 win over Buffalo. That gives Monahan 19 goals and 31 points in 62 games this season. Those aren't bad numbers for the 19-year-old making the jump from the WHL straight to the NHL after being taken with the sixth overall pick in 2013. He's worth holding onto in keeper leagues and taking a chance on late in standard league drafts for the 2014-15 campaign.

Sean Monahan recorded two assists in Calgary's 4-1 win against Ottawa Wednesday night. It was Monahan's second multi-point game in his last three contests. He has 18 goals and 10 assists in 55 contests this season. Those aren't numbers worth getting excited over in standard leagues, but he might take a significant step forward in 2014-15. At the worst, he will be worth keeping an eye on in October.

Sean Monahan scored both goals for the Flames in their 2-1 overtime win over the Oilers on Saturday night. Monahan potted one in the first and one at 1:50 of overtime, rare highlights for the youngster after a fast start. It wasn't unexpected to see the 19-year-old rookie's scoring/point pace slow after his hot first month: He had six goals and 10 points in October, and he's added 12 goals and 16 points in the four months since. Joe Colborne, Mark Giordano, Paul Byron and Ladislav Smid picked up the helpers.

The Calgary Flames have won four of their seven shootout games this season, and rookie Sean Monahan has scored the winner in three of them. "It's pretty crazy," said the first-year pro, who also leads the team with 14 goals. "The crowd's pretty loud there. It's a little bit of pressure on you, but as a hockey player you've got to like to be in those situations. It's something I like to do."
