Sean Avery has successfully cleared waivers.
That's hardly a surprise, given that he's previously cleared normal and re-entry waivers this season. We wouldn't rule out the possibility of a team acquiring Avery for a playoff push closer to the trade deadline when he'll have a reduced prorated cap hit for this season, but that's not reason enough to hold onto Avery in standard leagues. If for some reason you have him, and you're not in an incredibly deep league, you should feel safe to dump him.

Sean Avery has been placed on the waiver wire by the New York Rangers.
Avery has three goals and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games this season. Given that Avery has already cleared both regular and re-entry waivers in 2011-12, we expect him to clear again this time.

Sean Avery viewed Monday's win over the New York Islanders from the press box, as a healthy scratch, for an eighth straight game.
Avery, along with Erik Christensen, is a candidate to be demoted to the minors when Wojtek Wolski is ready to return from a groin injury. He has three assists and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games this season. Avery and Christensen, who has been scratched for four consecutive contests, would have to clear waivers before going down to the AHL.

Sean Avery was a healthy scratch on Thursday.
Avery will be a player to watch this summer as his contract is set to expire. If he can find a team that wants to use him consistently on their third line, Avery will have some fantasy value. For now though, it's hard to recommend Avery in anything but the deepest of leagues.

Erik Christensen will take Sean Avery's spot in the Rangers lineup on Sunday as the polarizing pest is a healthy scratch.
Avery has been one of the better PIM options in fantasy for years despite his injury issues and lack of consistency. Unfortunately, his antagonizing ways rub his own coach the wrong way, so he regularly finds himself in John Tortorella's doghouse. Avery might not be worth the trouble until he lands with another team - if that even happens next season.

Sean Avery was on a line with Brad Richards and Ruslan Fedotenko during Monday's practice.
Although Rangers coach John Tortorella played it off as being coincidental, it's worth noting that Avery previously played with Richards in Dallas and Fedotenko was Richards' teammate in Tampa Bay. Either way, playing on a line with Richards is great news for Avery.

In a nice moment for Sean Avery, he opened the scoring for the New York Rangers on Friday.
How about that for a Sean Avery moment? He has been the subject of much talk early on this season but he proved to the NHL world he still has what it takes to put the puck in the net if the situation arises. Avery was in the middle of the game the whole night, a nice sign for the veteran. The goal was his first since March 3, 2011.

Sean Avery was used sparingly in his season debut on Saturday night after he was recalled from the minors.
He saw just 4:46 of ice time in the contest, while starting on the fourth line with Erik Christensen and Andre Deveaux. The Rangers spent a sizable portion of the game on the power play and all of Avery's time on the ice was spent at even strength.

Sean Avery is slated to lineup with Brian Boyle and Brandon Prust on Saturday.
Seems like the Rangers are truly going with a checking line in this game. The combination of grit and physicality on that line is frightening. It will be interesting to see how the Rangers mesh with the outspoken Avery. Pay special attention to this one as New York may have to answer to their fans if Avery is a bust.

Sean Avery will play in his first game of the 2011-12 campaign on Saturday.
Avery started the season in the minors because, in the words of Rangers coach John Tortorella, the Rangers "have better players." Even after the team called him up on Tuesday, Avery was made a healthy scratch on Thursday. He'll have some fantasy value if he can re-establish himself as one of the Rangers' regulars, but it looks like that will be an uphill battle.
