Darling stopped 20 of 21 shots faced during Friday's 4-1 over the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Darling gets back in the win column with a solid performance to keep the Canes' playoff hopes alive. It's safe to say that Darling's first season in Raleigh has been a disappointment, but with Cam Ward's career winding down, the 29-year-old may get another shot to stake his claim as a starting NHL net minder and should be serviceable net minder in fantasy leagues - provided competition isn't brought in over the summer.

Despite an earlier report from NHL.com indicating Joel Ward would start for the Hurricanes, it is Darling who will guard the visiting goal Friday against the Capitals, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darling will make his second straight start for the Hurricanes despite taking a loss last time out, letting four past him on 45 shots. He hasn't played particularly well either at the home venue or on the road this season but owns just a 6-12-4 mark away from PNC arena this season. With a Capitals club on tap averaging 3.34 goals per game at home this season, Darling may have another rough night ahead of him.

Darling was beaten four times on 45 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
While Darling hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt this season, this loss rests more on the team in front of him than the netminder himself given the continuous flurry of shots that cascaded on Darling throughout the night. He came in with a 3.19 GAA and .885 save percentage for the season after allowing seven goals to the Oilers in his last appearance, so owners who turned to the struggling goalie here despite the obvious warning signs only have themselves to blame for the underwhelming result.

Darling will be in the cage against host New Jersey on Tuesday, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darling watched Cam Ward fashion a three-game winning streak before getting the nod himself for this road match against a Devils team ranked 21st in home scoring at 2.83 goals per contest. Still, the former has arguably been the biggest bust among fantasy goalies this season, as Darling's gone 12-18-7 with a 3.19 GAA and .885 save percentage through 39 games. Avoid him if you can.

Darling was shelled for seven goals on 30 shots from the Oilers on Tuesday, with 7-3 being the final score.
EDGE Analysis
This was an embarrassing home performance for Darling, whose had a nightmare first season in Carolina. We're talking about a 12-18-7 record, 3.19 GAA and .885 save percentage for a guy who reached a four-year, $16.6 million pact with the Hurricanes last May. Of course, very rarely is it ever purely the fault of the netminder -- he is the last line of defense, after all -- but coach Bill Peters has to be disappointed with Darling after trusting him to step up in the wake of struggles for veteran goalie Cam Ward, who has lost four in a row. Avoid these tenders from Raleigh if you can.

Darling will be between the pipes for Tuesday's matchup with Edmonton, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
While he may have two wins in his previous three contests, Darling still posted a 3.04 GAA in those outings -- relying on his offense to bail him out. The 28-year-old's first season as a starter has been a disaster, as he is 12-17-7 with a .889 save percentage and frequently found himself relegated to the bench in favor of veteran Cam Ward. Although the Canes may be stuck with him after signing him to a four-year, $16.6 million contract, fantasy owners may want to consider pursuing other goaltending options heading into 2018-19.

Darling allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 4-3 victory over the Islanders on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old blew a 2-goal lead and nearly coughed up another game before his offense bailed him out Sunday night. The Hurricanes offense outscoring the opposition is about all owners can hope for when Darling is in net these days. He came into Sunday with an .888 save percentage and 3.08 GAA, and those numbers didn't improve much after the victory. He is also just 12-17-7 in 38 appearances.

Darling will be the road starter in Sunday's game against the Islanders, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darling will be in net for the second half of back-to-back matchups, and he's been 1-4-0 with a .887 save percentage in such games. That doesn't sound appealing stacked up against the Islanders' eighth-ranked offense (3.2 goals per game). However, this is no surprise to fantasy owners of Darling, who have dealt with the ups and downs of a goalie who has produced a troublesome 11 wings in 37 appearances this season.

Darling allowed four goals on 21 shots during Monday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Considering the Rangers entered this contest in poor form, this checks out as another discouraging showing from Darling. The first-year Hurricane owns an 11-17-7 record, .888 save percentage and 3.08 GAA for the campaign. Not only do those numbers make him a risky fantasy option, they qualify the 29-year-old netminder as one of the bigger disappointments at the position after being a popular breakout candidate entering the 2017-18 season.

Darling will be between the pipes Monday against the Rangers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darling will make his second straight start Monday in the first half of back-to-back games. For the most part, Darling has struggled this season, compiling a .890 save percentage and an unappealing 11-16-7 record. The Rangers are a favorable matchup, though, since they lost 10 of the last 13 contests and scored just 2.38 goals per game in that stretch.
