Darling, who was recalled Saturday from Rockford of the AHL, is not expected to start for the Blackhawks on Sunday since he was in goal for Rockford on Friday and Saturday, NBC Chicago reports. Darling has been a big surprise in the early going this season that included a stint earlier in the season with the Blackhawks. He is one of the top goalies in the AHL posting a 5-1-0 record and a 1.79 goals-against average that ranks fifth in the AHL. The Blackhawks might be doing a goalie tango between Darling and Antti Raanta all year if Corey Crawford stays healthy. With Darling coming up Saturday, Raanta was sent down to get some starts in goal with Rockford. To get both Darling and Raanta time in goal this season, they could move the two goalies up and down between Chicago and Rockford. Darling could get a start next weekend when the Blackhawks have back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday at either Edmonton or Vancouver respectively on the road.

The Blackhawks recalled Darling from AHL Rockford on Saturday. Darling is off to a great start with Rockford, posting a 5-1-0 record and a 1.79 goals-against average that ranks fifth in the AHL. He'll trade places with Antti Raanta, who was reassigned to Rockford on Saturday.

Darling was assigned to AHL Rockford on Thursday, ESPN Chicago reports. Though Darling performed well his three-game stint with the Blackhawks (2-0-0, 1.44 GAA, .948 save percentage), the team decided that Antti Raanta's larger sample of production at the NHL level made it worthwhile to keep him around as Corey Crawford's top backup. Moving Raanta to the minors also would have been more costly by virtue of his larger NHL contract, sealing the club's decision to demote Darling back to the AHL.

Darling was tagged for four goals on 28 shots Thursday, but saved all three shootout attempts to deliver a 5-4 victory over the Senators. It'll be interesting to see what he 'Hawks make of this performance by Darling, who obviously didn't post good numbers this time, but still did deliver a win. With Corey Crawford likely healthy enough to start Saturday, either Darling or Antti Raanta will soon be sent down to AHL Rockford.

Darling surrendered just one goal on 25 shots Tuesday against Anaheim, but was stuck with a 1-0 loss. The Blackhawks outshot Anaheim 38-25, but John Gibson was perfect on the other end. Darling matched zeroes with him well into the third period, but ultimately ended up allowing a shorthanded breakaway goal to Devante Smith-Pelly. Nonetheless, Darling's delivered terrific turns in each of his first two NHL starts. Unfortunately for him, Corey Crawford (upper body) is quite close to returning, which would push Darling back to the AHL.

Darling is lined up to start Tuesday's game against the Ducks, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Regular Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford (upper body) was able to take part in Tuesday's morning skate, but it appears he is not ready to return just yet, as Darling worked in the starter's crease and was the first goalie off the ice following Tuesday's session. Assuming Darling starts as expected, he will have his work cut out for him against an Anaheim squad that has scored at least three goals in seven of its nine games this season.

Darling stopped 32 of 33 shots in Sunday's victory over the Senators. Making his NHL debut, Darling was strong in net and withstood an Ottawa attack in the third period that featured 16 shots. He was impressive with AHL Rockford this season as well, with a 2-0-0 record, 1.44 GAA, and .948 save percentage. Despite his performance, it seems likely that Darling will be sent back down when Corey Crawford (upper body) returns, though he could see some more NHL playing time with more efforts like Sunday's.

Darling will start in net for the Blackhawks on Sunday, ESPN Chicago reports. Darling was considered a candidate to start the Sunday game of the back-to-back stretch Saturday and Sunday. He will make his first NHL regular season start following a 2-0-0 record with a 1.44 GAA and .948 save percentage with AHL Rockford this season. When Crawford is healthy enough to return, it wouldn't be surprising if Darling is sent back to the AHL.

Darling could be in goal for the Blackhawks on Sunday against Ottawa that would be the second half of a back-to-back scenario, Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville told CSN Chicago. In the past Quenneville has split the goalie starts in a back-to-back scenario so Darling could see his first NHL regular season contest on Sunday. He has really shot up the Blackhawks depth chart after being signed as a free agent in the offseason and looking impressive in the preseason. He was in goal for Milwaukee of the AHL last season and the Chicago-area native has a chance to start his first regular season NHL game in front of his family on Sunday. He was 2-0 with Rockford of the AHL this season with a 1.44 goals against average and .948 save percentage.

The Blackhawks recalled Darling from AHL Rockford on Tuesday. Darling was called up to add another goaltender to the roster with Corey Crawford (upper body) sidelined. He owns an impressive 1.89 GAA in 29 career NHL games, but will serve as the backup behind Antti Raanta with the big club.
