Darling, who just a few hours ago had shut out the Oilers on Sunday, was sent by the Blackhawks to Rockford of the AHL on Monday morning, CSN Chicago reports. Darling had looked pretty good against Edmonton and made 19 saves. He will try to show in Rockford that he deserves to be with the Blackhawks. Michael Leighton is expected to be joining him so there might be a battle for net time with the IceHogs.

Darling looked good in goal for the Blackhawks in saving 19 shots on goal and collecting a 5-0 shutout against the Oilers on Sunday in an exhibition game, the Chicago Tribune reports. Darling was helped on a couple of shots that hit the post, but he was still impressive. It still was the Oilers and Darling will have to show a lot more if he wants to replace Antti Raanta as the back-up goalie to Corey Crawford. Veteran goalie Michael Leighton is expected to start at Rockford of the AHL, but Darling's play might give him more starts at Rockford.
