The Bruins confirmed Nathan Horton has a mild concussion and will not play tonight at Washington.
Coach Claude Julien said that Horton is experiencing headaches that signal a concussion. While he will not play tonight against the Caps, it is hoped the all-star break -- Boston will have six off days -- will give Horton the time he needs.

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has revealed that Nathan Horton's head injury is probably a mild concussion.
Horton likely sustained the injury when Philadelphia's Tom Sestito blindsided him in the second period. This news is made all the more concerning by the fact that Horton was also diagnosed with a concussion during the Stanley Cup finals. Don't count on him playing on Tuesday, but after that the Bruins aren't scheduled to play until January 31st.

Nathan Horton didn't play in the third period on Sunday after he sustained a head injury against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Philadelphia's Tom Sestito caught him with a blindside hit early in the second period and Horton reacted unfavorably to the play, which earned him an interference penalty. Coach Claude Julien wasn't sure if Horton would be available for Tuesday's game in Washington and it's uncertain if he suffered a dreaded concussion either. "I guess we'll find out in the next few days here," Julien said. "But we certainly didn't allow him to come back and play this game." Horton was diagnosed with a severe concussion during the Stanley Cup finals, so it can't be ruled out as a possibility until we get more information.

Boston coach Claude Julien wants to see more from Nathan Horton, who has registered only one shot in each of the past three games.
"Horts has got to pick up his game. No ifs or buts about it," Julien said. "A guy his size has got to get more physically involved. He's got to compete a lot harder. He's skating hard. You see him on the backcheck, he skates hard. But we need more from him. At the same time, when he's emotionally engaged, he scores goals. He's a difference-maker. He's got to find his game." Horton has 14 goals and 15 assists in 42 games this season.
