Miikko Koivu (shoulder) was seen taking shots in a cage under the stands during Minnesota's morning practice. That's a positive step for a player with a separated shoulder. Koivu is still hoping to play in the All-Star game. He might just make it back by then.

Mikko Koivu (upper body) has not been ruled out for the All-Star Game. The NHL is waiting a few days before naming a replacement. "Medically, whether this happens or not, I don't know," Wild GM Chuck Fletcher said. "But I never doubt Mikko. Mikko is a proud guy, and in a perfect world, he'd love to play. I just don't know. I've seen guys come back in two weeks from these type of injuries and I've seen it take quite a bit longer, so we'll see." The Wild haven't released a lot of details regarding Koivu's injury - other than that it's of the week-to-week variety - but Koivu is believed to be suffering from a separated shoulder.

Mikko Koivu (shoulder) could be out for at least a month, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune's sources. Koivu might have suffered a separated left shoulder on Saturday, although the Wild haven't confirmed that or the severity of the injury. The Wild have been in free fall mode lately and they have to right their ship quickly if they want to hold onto eighth place in the Western Conference. However, that will be very difficult for them to do if they lose their captain for any extended period of time.

Although the Wild have said nothing about the severity of Mikko Koivu's injury, it might be a separated left shoulder as he was seen leaving the arena in a sling. He will re-examined Sunday or Monday. It looks as if Koivu will miss a few games at the very least. The Wild have said they will update Koivu's status on Monday after practice.
