Mikko Koivu scored a goal and one assist as the Minnesota Wild squeaked by the San Jose Sharks 2-1.
Koivu has six points in his last five games and 23 overall. He's often considered underrated because of his strong two-way play, but with higher-scoring linemates, Koivu might get more recognition this season. His fantasy value seems to slowly climb each year.

Mikko Koivu potted a goal and also registered an assist the Wild's 3-1 victory over the Lightning Monday night.
Koivu is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Wild and tonight was a very encouraging effort from the under-performing center who is looking to turn his season around. With the two points tonight, Koivu now has 19 points in 24 games, but only four goals on the season. Cal Clutterbuck also had two points in the win tonight for the Wild.

Mikko Koivu sniped two goals in the Minnesota Wild's 3-2 shootout win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
A very encouraging effort from the under-performing center, as he scored shorthanded in the second period and with 1:38 remaining in the game on the man advantage to send it to overtime. Maybe this is the type of game to spark the Finn as he still only has three goals and 13 points on the season, after three straight campaigns with over 60. Cal Clutterbuck and Jared Spurgeon had the assists, while Matt Cullen had the winner in the shootout.

Mikko Koivu registered an assist in Minnesota's 1-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night.
Koivu is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Wild. The Finnish native has been playing on a line with Dany Heatley and Devon Setoguchi and should average a point a game this season. Setoguchi scored the only goal of the game tonight while Heatley got the other assist late in the third period.

Mikko Koivu scored his first goal of the season in Minnesota's 2-1 victory on Tuesday.
Koivu got off to a quiet start, but he's heating up with four points in his last three contests. He isn't likely to get much more than 20 goals this season, but he should surpass the 60-point milestone for the fourth straight campaign.

Mikko Koivu is shooting blanks for the Minnesota Wild eight games into this season.
He doesn't have a goal on 18 shots and has accounted for three assists. Koivu is still working hard and his defensive game is receiving great marks from coach Mike Yeo, so he should be able to turn it around soon. Joining him and Dany Heatley on the top line for Thursday's contest will be Cal Clutterbuck, who should add some energy to the combination.

Mikko Koivu suffered a large gash to his face in the third period on Thursday and did not return.
Apparently the skate of linemate Dany Heatley caught Koivu in the chin and Koivu required stitches from the left side of his chin underneath in his neck area all the way to the right side according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune. "Scary cut," said coach Mike Yeo. "Scary cut." Koivu should be okay but could miss a game or two but he may jump right back into the lineup as well. Stay tuned.

Minnesota's top line of Mikko Koivu, Devin Setoguchi and Dan Heatley is not clicking on all cylinders.
Against Detroit Saturday night the threesome was held to only three shots on goal. At least Setoguchi knows that the unit has to play better. "It starts with our line," Setoguchi said. "We were chasing the puck all night, swooping by pucks, not stopping on pucks. We just got away from our game when they started pressing." We expect they will get it together, so be patient.

Mikko Koivu potted a goal in Minnesota's 4-2 loss to Columbus Thursday night.
Koivu is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Wild. The Finnish native will get the chance to play on a line with Dany Heatley and will average a point a game this season. Koivu is someone who should be targeted in all fantasy drafts this year. Rick Nash and Jeff Carter scored in the win for Columbus and Fedor Tyutin potted a goal and registered an assist tonight. Josh Harding was in nets tonight for the Wild, stopping 22 of 26 shots and Steve Mason had a great game with 34 saves.
