Mikko Koivu scored two goals in TPS Turku's 5-3 loss to Ilves Tampere. It was Koivu's 2012-13 debut with the SM-liiga club. He originally played for TPS Turku before making his North American debut.

Mikko Koivu has agreed to join TPS Turku of the Finnish Elite League. The Finnish star of the Minnesota Wild has been practicing in Minnesota since the start of the lockout but will now play for the team that he is a part owner of. Koivu played only 55 games last season and had 12 goals and 44 points. He is expected to play for Turku this week.

Mikko Koivu will practice in Minnesota and not entertain playing in Europe at the present time. Koivu practiced with future linemate Zach Parise on Monday and while he owns part of the Finnish team TPS Turku, insurance costs and especially the tax rate for returning Finnish players are huge so he won't jump right away.

Mikko Koivu didn't win a medal in the 2012 IIHF World Championship. Koivu has participated in 12 international tournaments and this is the first time he's going home empty handed. He gave it his all, scoring three goals and 11 points in 10 contests with Team Finland.

Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher is hopeful that he can add one or two top pieces this offseason, through free agency or trade. The Wild's payroll is dropping this summer to near the NHL's cap floor of $48.4 million, and the GM is open to adding players through any means possible. "We have a lot of growth potential," Fletcher said. "The things we do well, we do well. Our weaknesses are obvious and transparent. But we're a team (for which) one or two players can make a big difference." Fletcher is optimistic that the growth of some young players will make a difference next season, too, but will be on the lookout for the top-end talents that can provide an immediate impact. Minnesota finished 35-36-11 this season.

Mikko Koivu scored the winner in overtime Thursday night against the Florida Panthers. Koivu is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Wild and proved it again tonight with a beauty in overtime. Koivu also registered an assist in the contest and has 40 points in 50 games in an injury-riddled season. We wouldn't be surprised if he reaches the 70-point mark for the second time in his career next year.

Mikko Koivu returned to the lineup Thursday night for the first time in 15 games since re-aggravating a shoulder injury. Koivu had been out for 23 of the past 27 games due to the injury. Koivu centered a line with Devin Setoguchi and Dany Heatley, and was help pointless in his return. However, Heatley scored his 21st of the season in the shootout win.

Minnesota has struggled in his absence and they will not be able to make the playoffs. He has 10 goals and 37 points in 45 games this season.

Mikko Koivu is slated to return to Minnesota's lineup on Thursday from his shoulder injury. He has sat out 15 consecutive games and 23 of the past 27 with a shoulder issue, but barring a setback he is projected to play versus Calgary. Koivu has registered 10 goals and 27 assists over 45 games in 2011-12.

Mikko Koivu (shoulder) practiced on Sunday but is still questionable for Monday's game. Koivu was thought to be ready to go on Saturday but was deemed not ready as the Wild do not want to rush him back like they did earlier in the season and then saw him re-injure himself.
