Koivu was going to be a game time decision but the Wild decided to err on the side of caution and give him a couple of extra days to recover as he has missed 20 of the last 24 Minnesota games. Look for him to return on Monday in Vancouver and adjust your lineup accordingly.

Koivu is getting closer to returning to the Wild lineup although he still could be questionable for Saturday's contest. He has ten goals and 37 points in 45 games this season and last played on Feb. 16. "We're not going to put him in a bad spot," coach Mike Yeo said. "This is the first day he's had a chance to get out there and have any battle drills. We want to make sure we give him a chance to get into those battles, to be comfortable with them again and also make sure he has full confidence that, next time he hits the ice, he can do those things without any problems." The Wild miss his scoring prowess and leadership so his return cannot come soon enough.

Mikko Koivu said he felt good after going all out in practice Thursday. The Wild play again Saturday afternoon against the visiting Hurricanes, though decision has yet been made regarding Koivu's availability. A shoulder injury has limited Koivu to 45 games this season. He is 10-27-37.

However, he has missed the last three matches with an undisclosed ailment. The Wild play at Florida on Thursday and Dallas on Friday.

Mikko Koivu was unable to play in this afternoon's Boston Bruins-Minnesota Wild game. The Wild weren't quick to announce the status for their versatile captain. Hopefully you didn't have him in your lineup, especially on an unusually busy Sunday in the NHL.
