Smith will start Friday's game against the Sharks, nhl.com's Dave Vest reports.Smith has allowed either one or two goals in each of his five February starts, but he only owns a 2-2-1 record for the month, thanks to a lack of offensive support. Friday's game will mark his sixth consecutive start.

Smith saved 34 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Blues. It's another loss, but it's also another credible outing for the veteran goalie, and it came against a high-quality opponent. In fact, he's been pretty fantastic in the month of February -- although he has just a 2-2-1 record thanks to the Coyotes' ailing offense, Smith has allowed just eight goals in five starts this month and hasn't posted a save mark under .920 in any of those outings. Quietly snatch him up from the wire if he was dumped by a frustrated owner.

Smith will be in the crease for Tuesday's game against the Blues, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. For seemingly the first time all season, Smith has established some momentum in goal. He's given up two or fewer goals and posted save percentages above .920 in five of his last six starts, going 3-2-1 in those contests. The last two of those starts came against top-notch opponents in the Red Wings and Blackhawks, and he'll receive a similarly tough test Tuesday against the high-scoring Blues. Smith's recent improvement might give fantasy owners more confidence in the goalie compared to two weeks ago, but this matchup is one that's probably best left avoided.

Smith was brilliant Monday, making 36 saves on 38 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks. What a performance for the veteran, who has now allowed two goals or less in five of his last six games. It's no secret that Smith's season has been nothing short of a disaster (.896 save percentage, 3.25 GAA, 10 wins in 38 appearances) but he's been much sharper lately and could provide sneaky fantasy value as the Coyotes play the role of spoiler down the stretch.

Coach Dave Tippett indicated Smith will likely receive the start on both days of back-to-back games Monday and Tuesday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Smith hasn't been blowing doors open with his performances in net, but he's been solid over his last three starts, allowing just four goals in those games. Given the options the Coyotes have between the pipes, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Smith is indeed the netminder for both contests.

Smith stopped 23 of 25 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Red Wings.
Though he might have taken a second straight loss, Smith's steady performances since the All-Star break at least make him a playable fantasy goalie. While there's not much upside in the wins category on a Coyotes roster lacking in high-end offensive talent, Smith can still offer some value if he can at least keep his ratios closer to his career norms the rest of the way. Even with some expected second-half improvement, Smith still has a long way to go in order to bring his season numbers (3.30 GAA, .894 save percentages) to even below-average territory.

Smith will be in the cage for Saturday's game against the Red Wings, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Smith has gone 2-1-1 over his last four starts while conceding exactly one goal in three of those contests, but those efforts came against the weak attacks of the Maple Leafs, Blue Jackets, and Hurricanes. The same can't be said about the Red Wings, who rank seventh in the league with 2.94 goals per game. Don't read too much into Smith's recent positive sample, as he'll need to string together some more quality outings before fantasy owners forget the bind that he's already put them in.

Smith stopped 40 of 41 through regulation and overtime, but gave up the only shootout goal to end up with another loss Thursday against Carolina.
Smith's stat lines have been interesting lately, as he's given up just a single goal in three of his last four games -- but five in the other. He still can't be considered reliable by any stretch, but it is worth noting that Smith's looked significantly better since the All-Star break. He might even be ownable for fantasy purposes.

Smith will be in the net for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes.
Smith has been inconsistent in his four starts out of the All-Star break, holding the Maple Leafs and Blue Jackets to one goal apiece in victories while giving up a combined eight goals to the Flyers and Senators in defeats. That's actually an improvement of where he was prior to the break, as he was only consistently awful. As such, it remains difficult to trust him as a fantasy option in daily formats even against a doormat like the Hurricanes, who rank 29th in the NHL in scoring.

Smith stopped 30 of 31 in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jackets.
A sharp outing for the veteran tender, but he remains much too unreliable to be counted on except against the coldest and poorest teams in the league. And even then you're taking a risk.
