Neuvirth will start Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports. Jaroslav Halak (lower body) isn't traveling with the team, so Neuvirth was all but a lock to get the start. Halak is merely considered day-to-day, but it wouldn't be surprising if he misses time beyond Tuesday. The Isles recalled Kevin Poulin from AHL Bridgeport to serve as Neuvirth's backup Tuesday night.

Neuvirth is expected to get the start Tuesday versus the Blackhawks, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple. Starting goaltender Jaroslav Halak didn't make the trip to Chicago as he is dealing with an undisclosed injury which will leave the starting job in the hands of Neuvirth. He would be somewhat of a risky start however as playing the Blackhawks in Chicago isn't fun under the best of circumstances more or less when your team's offense has gone AWOL of late.

Neuvirth stopped 27 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Montreal. He was solid, but his own stickhandling gaffe in the second led directly to the game-winning goal. He was slow to a puck behind the net while the Isles were on the power play and a forechecking Lars Eller got to the puck first. Neuvirth was a sitting duck when Max Pacioretty pounded the puck home. He is 1-1-1 in three outings since coming to Long Island.

Neuvirth will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Canadiens. It's not much of a surprise that Neuvirth will get the nod after Jaroslav Halak started Friday in Ottawa, finishing on the wrong end of a 2-1 loss. Neuvirth's stint with the Islanders hasn't gotten off to a promising start, as he's split his two decisions while allowing three goals apiece to mediocre offenses in the Maple Leafs and Panthers. He'll be hard-pressed to get the victory Saturday with Vezina Trophy frontrunner Carey Price manning the opposite net.

Neuvirth stopped 22 of 25 shots in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Making his second consecutive start, Neuvirth once again allowed three goals but this time was on the winning end of an overtime contest. Jaroslav Halak figures to see the bulk of the action in net going forward, but Neuvirth should get more opportunities to pick up a win when he does get the starting nod now that he's on the Islanders.

Neuvirth will make his second straight start in net Monday against the Maple Leafs, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. Neuvirth got the start Saturday against the Panthers as well, but surrendered three goals en route to an overtime loss. His run in net will likely end after Monday, as the Isles have a back-to-back set with the Rangers on tap Tuesday. Neuvirth remains the backup to Jaroslav Halak, who will likely receive most of the starts the rest of the way.

Neuvirth made 15 saves through regulation Saturday and allowed just one goal in the shootout, but the Islanders came out on the losing end of a 4-3 score to the Panthers. The Panthers didn't have many shots, but the ones they had were dazzlers. Neuvirth will play second fiddle to Jaroslav Halak for now, but could be auditioned for a bigger role for 2015-16. That means he's a match-ups guy going forward. Nothing more, nothing less.

Neuvirth will be in the net for Saturday's game against the Panthers, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. Neuvirth will make his Islanders debut with what projects to be a favorable matchup, something that could rarely be said during his days with the Sabres. The netminder, who had submitted a strong .918 save percentage in 27 games with the Sabres despite the lack of talent at forward and defensemen around him, should be one of the league's more useful backup goalies from a fantasy perspective, as the move to Long Island should give him a legitimate chance at coming away with a win most every time he takes the net. The Panthers look to be a mess right now, as they'll be without their top two goalies (Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya) and could be without a host of other skaters (perhaps including star rookie Aaron Ekblad) due to the flu bug that's made its way around the locker room.

Neuvirth was dealt to the Islanders on Monday in exchange for goalie Chad Johnson, Sportsnet.ca reports. With Neuvirth sent packing, the Sabres have now traded away both of their top two goaltenders from the start of the season. It was after the trade that sent Jhonas Enroth to Dallas earlier this month that Neuvirth began to receive more intrigue around the league, as he thrived during his stint as the No. 1 goalie, finishing February with a 3-4-2 record, 2.28 GAA, and .938 save percentage. While he will now be the clear backup to Jaroslav Halak on Long Island, Neuvirth will make for a serviceable spot starting option nearly any occasion he takes the ice, due largely to the massive upgrade in his supporting cast that should result in more wins. However, as a byproduct of having a superior defense in front of him, Neuvirth doesn't figure to see nearly as many shot attempts as he often did in Buffalo, which could lead to a decline in his save percentage.

Neuvirth practically stood on his head Saturday -- making a whopping 42 saves on 46 shots -- but it wasn't enough as the Sabres lost 5-3 to the Panthers. The fifth goal was an empty-netter. Despite jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Sabres mustered just a total of 14 shots in the game, essentially leaving poor Neuvirth hanging out to dry once again. The barrage of shots came at the hands of a Panthers team that simply wouldn't be denied in their pursuit of a playoff spot, with their breakthrough on Neuvirth finally coming with a three-goal flurry within 6:30 in the second period. Neuvirth now has a .918 save percentage and 2.99 GAA in 27 starts this year, a run that has featured just six wins for the unlucky Czech netminder.
