Leighton was sent home from practice Monday due to illness but is expected to still be ready to back up Cam Ward against Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton has made two starts and one relief appearance for the Canes since being pressed into the backup role due to the injury to Eddie Lack (concussion). The 35-year-old has primarily served as an insurance policy and the team will likely continue relying heavily on starter Cam Ward into the foreseeable future.

Leighton was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
After making a 33-save appearance for the AHL's Checkers in Wednesday's overtime win, Leighton trades places with Alex Nedejkovic on the depth chart. With Eddie Lack (concussion) still on IR, the Hurricanes are giving almost all the work to starter Cam Ward, rendering the other two netminders pretty much useless in the fantasy realm.

Leighton was sent down to the minors Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton will suit up for the Checkers on Wednesday which would allow him to be recalled in time to back-up Cam Ward on Friday against Washington. However, Leighton has posted a disappointing .875 save percentage, which could open the door for Daniel Altshuller to make his first NHL start during the Canes upcoming back-to-back if the team decides to leave Leighton in the minors.

Leighton gave up three goals on just 16 shots in relief of Cam Ward on Tuesday, but he ended up taking home a win against the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
It's not often that a goalie comes on after the starter's been yanked, posts an .813 save percentage, and wins anyway. That's what happens when your offense explodes for eight goals, though. Leighton generally sees very little work as Cam Ward's interim backup, and Tuesday's performance won't change that.

Leighton has rejoined the Hurricanes after drawing a start with AHL Charlotte on Friday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton took a 3-2 overtime loss to Bakersfield in his latest minor-league contest. With Eddie Lack remaining on IR with a concussion, Leighton should continue to be the undisputed No. 2 option in goal for the Hurricanes, though that doesn't mean much as Cam Ward has already started 21 out of a possible 27 games so far.

Leighton was reassigned to AHL Charlotte on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Hurricanes reportedly made this move so Leighton can serve as the starting backstop for Friday night's AHL game against Bakersfield. He's only drawn into a pair of games with the parent club this season, mixing in a brilliant outing (31-save win over the Panthers) with a dud (4.14 GAA in a loss to the Rangers). If you must own a goalie from Carolina, Cam Ward should be the guy, as he's the veteran stalwart and undisputed starter.

Leighton made 19 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton's second game this season wasn't nearly as impressive as his first. His record is now 1-1 with six goals against in two games. Leighton is best left on the wire.

Leighton will guard the cage in Saturday's road game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton was sharp in his only start of the season, stopping 31 of 33 shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Panthers. The 35-year-old goaltender will look to stay hot in a highly unfavorable road matchup with the Rangers' league-leading offense.

Leighton made 31 saves and picked up an assist in a 3-2 win over the Panthers on Sunday evening.
EDGE Analysis
Leighton hadn't appeared in an NHL game since 2012-13 and hadn't registered a win since 2010-11. Nice night, but his value is negligible.

Leighton will start in the crease for Sunday's game against Florida, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran, who hasn't started more than one NHL game in a season since 2009-10, will get his first start of this year Sunday. He has a .937 save percentage and a 1.66 goals against average with AHL Charlotte this year, so he's proven himself to be solid in the minors, whether that translates to the NHL is yet to be seen. The Florida Panthers aren't a top offensive team this season, so he won't have the worst matchup for a debut.
