Leighton will suit up for the Checkers on Wednesday which would allow him to be recalled in time to back-up Cam Ward on Friday against Washington. However, Leighton has posted a disappointing .875 save percentage, which could open the door for Daniel Altshuller to make his first NHL start during the Canes upcoming back-to-back if the team decides to leave Leighton in the minors.
