Michael Frolik potted a goal, but the Chicago Blackhawks came up short in their 3-2 Game 4 first-round series loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night.
Frolik now has goals in two straight games, after scoring just five times in 63 games in the regular season. His goal at 18:34 of the third period essentially forced overtime. Brendan Morrison had the other marker. Jonathan Toews, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Dave Bolland and Johnny Oduya had the assists.

Michael Frolik has been granted the opportunity to skate on Chicago's third line, alongside Dave Bolland and Bryan Bickell, due to Andrew Shaw's three-game suspension for running over Phoenix goalie Mike Smith.
He made the most of that chance in Game 3 with his first goal of the series after spending the team's previous two contests in the press box. Frolik concluded the match with four shots and 19:26 of ice time. The trio of Frolik, Bolland and Bickell played together during last year's playoffs and in some regular season games this campaign, so there is some chemistry there.

Michael Frolik knows he hasn't lived up to expectations in the first season of his three-year/$7 million deal.
Frolik has five goals and 14 points in 57 games this season. "When they give you the contract you want to be better than I am now," said Frolik. "I know they expect that from me and I know I can be better too. It kind of wasn't me. I don't know what happened, but I want to make sure it's going to be like it was before." He had back-to-back 21 goal seasons in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Maybe he'll bounce back next season, but we wouldn't recommend drafting him in standard leagues next season.

Michael Frolik played for the first time in nine games Sunday.
He had been a healthy scratch the previous eight games and replaced Jimmy Hayes in the Chicago lineup. Frolik got fourth line minutes as he played only 9:02 minutes and was held off the scoreboard. This season has been a write off for Frolik and his fans have to hope for a resurgence next season.

Michael Frolik seems to be over a bout of the flu and will likely draw back in against the Kings Sunday.
He had missed practice Thursday and Friday but was back on the ice with this teammates Saturday and seems good to go Sunday against Los Angeles. If you need Frolik, he seems safe to activate.

Michael Frolik sat out on Friday as he is battling the flu.
Frolik had missed the last two days of practice with the illness so there was no surprise that he was out of the lineup. He has been seeing fourth line minutes of late after missing some games as a healthy scratch. He has little fantasy value with only five goals and 14 points in 55 games. His minus-10 rating does not help either.

Michael Frolik drew into the Chicago lineup on Friday after being a healthy scratch in two of the previous three games.
Frolik was in the lineup after Andrew Brunette suffered an upper body injury on Thursday in the loss to Edmonton and replaced him on the fourth line. "For sure, it's a kind of wake-up call," Frolik said. "I just want to come back and be ready and prove to them that it was maybe a bad decision or something like that and prove to them I can play." Frolik has struggled this season and has only five goals and 13 points in 49 games. Needless to say, he is not fantasy-worthy.
