Mathew Dumba will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday. Dumba has a goal in six games this season. He's got plenty of potential, but it might be a couple seasons before he has any fantasy value.

Mathew Dumba has experienced the inconsistencies that one generally expects from a young defenseman playing at the NHL level. GM Chuck Fletcher said he is unsure if Dumba is "an every-night player right now" and the Wild coaching staff has seemingly agreed with that statement, as the rookie blueliner has played in four of the team's first seven games. He can either stay with Minnesota or be returned to the junior ranks and the way things have gone so far he might be better served playing in the WHL with Red Deer. Dumba has averaged 13:09 of ice time, while recording one goal and seven shots.

Mathew Dumba found the back of the net for the first time in his NHL career. Dumba is trying to make the jump from the WHL to NHL with only a minimal amount of minor league experience. He had 42 points and 80 penalty minutes in 62 games with the WHL Red Deer Rebels last season.

Mathew Dumba will play in his first NHL game Saturday against Anaheim. Clayton Stoner will draw out of the lineup and Dumba will be paired with Keith Ballard. "I'm excited for him. This guy's a big part of our future," coach Mike Yeo said. "He's had a really strong camp, so I'm excited to get him there and see how he goes out and performs at this time of year. We've seen it. We saw it Game 1 for us, the pace of play, the intensity picks up right now, so you want to see how he handles that."

Coach Mike Yeo has not decided whether or not to play rookie Mathew Dumba Saturday. Dumba was a healthy scratch Thursday and is must be chomping on the bit to see his first regular season NHL action. If he does, he'll get some second power play time and that will take away from sophomore defenseman Jonas Brodin's time with the man-advantage. Dumba was selected with the seventh choice in the 2012 Draft and has a lot of offensive upside. He likely will be returned to the WHL before he plays 10 NHL games to get in a lot of ice time but the experience of playing some NHL games will help in the future.

Mathew Dumba might be a healthy scratch Thursday. He was skating with Nate Prosser during the team's morning session, so he may have to wait a little longer to make his NHL debut.

Mathew Dumba is being projected to make his NHL debut on Thursday against Los Angeles. He earned a roster spot with the team out of training camp. Dumba is expected to play with veteran Keith Ballard during even strength situations. He'll also probably get a chance to unleash his big shot on Minnesota's second power-play unit. Clayton Stoner may be the odd man out with Dumba in the lineup.

Matthew Dumba is on the verge of earning a roster spot with Minnesota. As the talented young defenseman has another year of junior eligibility he can only stay on an NHL roster for nine games if he is to be returned to his junior team. That may be what the Wild have in store for Dumba, who projects as a solid all-around defenseman with strong offensive instincts and an edge to his game despite his modest size. If he stays in the NHL beyond nine games, it may take him a season or two to realize his potential. Temper your immediate expectations.

Mathew Dumba is looking to make the Minnesota Wild out of training camp. Dumba has another year left of junior eligibility so if he can't crack the Wild lineup, he has to go back to the WHL. It may be better in the long run for the seventh overall pick in the 2012 Draft as he would be in great position to make the Canadian U20 team and that is a great experience. Dumba will really have to be impressive during training camp. He had 42 points in 60 WHL games with Red Deer last season which was a drop in production from the 57 points in 2011-12.

Mathew Dumba saw the success that Wild rookie Jonas Brodin had last year and he's hoping to get a similar opportunity to shine. "I hope I get the same [opportunity]," Dumba told NHL.com. "Just go in there with my hard work and determination and earn that. Hopefully I can do the great things he did. He had an awesome season. We're really good friends. He's a great guy and he deserves that. It was pretty cool seeing him make the transition so smooth. When he's out there, it almost looks effortless. He's an awesome guy." He skated in 62 WHL games with Red Deer last season, where he posted 42 points and 80 penalty minutes, and he dressed in eight games, between the regular season and playoffs, with the AHL's Houston Aeros. Dumba is hoping to begin his NHL career this season.
