Marc Staal (concussion) is making significant progress, according to his brother and Hurricanes captain, Eric.
Marc Staal hasn't played this season due to post-concussion symptoms related to a hit that his brother, Eric, delivered last season. The good news is that Marc has begun to do some light skating. "He's way better than he has been," Eric said. "It's nice to see him making progress. There's still a ways to go but he's definitely on the right path and it's good to see." Stay tuned.

Marc Staal returned to the ice this week for light skating but is still a considerable time away from returning to game action for the New York Rangers.
And Pittsburgh superstar Sidney Crosby is advising him not to rush back. "I think (Staal should) be patient. That's the most important thing," said Crosby, who was out with a concussion himself until recently. "There are days you feel really good and there are days it feels you really haven't progressed that much. So you look at the good days as little victories, and you make sure you build on them, but I wouldn't come back until you're 100%. That's my advice; however long it takes, it's worth the wait." Staal was concussed on a check from his brother, Eric, in a game in February against Carolina, but he played out the season before experiencing symptoms during summer workouts.

Marc Staal (concussion) skated with injured teammate Michael Rupp (knee) at the end of the team's morning session on Thursday.
"That's a long ways away," Staal said when asked when he might be able to return. "I need to get my strength back and all that stuff along with feeling good as far as my head goes, too, so I have no idea [about a timetable]. I think the rate of improvement the last month or so, I feel I'll be back [this season] and that's the plan." We'll keep you posted on his status.

Marc Staal skated on his own for the second straight days as he continues to recover from a concussion.
Staal, who has not played this season, skated with the Rangers at their practice facility both Monday and today. He took a hit from brother Eric in Carolina on Feb. 22 of last season. The defenseman missed three games before returning to the lineup and finished the 2010-11 campaign playing 77 contests. However, symptoms flared up in the off-season.

Marc Staal is still on the injured reserve with a concussion, but traveling with the team is a great step in the right direction.
Stay tuned for updates about Staal, who could still have a ways to go before he's ready to return from his injury. His value is highest in leagues with non-traditional stats such as time on ice, although he's starting to generate decent point totals. He isn't skating yet, so don't get too excited.

According to the New York Post, Marc Staal was granted clearance for light physical activity on Tuesday after his examination by concussion specialist Dr. Robert Cantu in Boston.
The Rangers refused to confirm or deny the news on Staal, but they did say that they will not provide updates on the defenseman's health during his recovery process. There is no timetable for his return and it appears that news will be scarce on the subject as well. We'll keep our ears to the ground if anything else arises though.

The New York Rangers haven't provided an update regarding Marc Staal (concussion).
No news is probably bad news in the case of Staal. He'll miss his 10th straight game on Monday and there's no reason to believe that he's close to returning. We'll keep you posted.

The New York Rangers aren't sure when Marc Staal will be ready to return to the lineup from concussion-related headaches.
He isn't expected to practice this week or face the Islanders Saturday. It also appears as though he won't be available to travel with the team when they leave for a four-game road trip through Western Canada on Sunday. We'll keep you posted.

Marc Staal (concussion) isn't likely to skate before the Rangers' game on Saturday.
The Rangers aren't sure when Staal will be back, which seems to be normal for players dealing with concussions. For now, consider Staal extremely doubtful for Saturday's game against the Islanders.

Marc Staal (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve by the New York Rangers.
He could be eligible to play against the Islanders on Oct. 15, but his return date at this time is questionable because of post-concussion headaches.
