Kyle Turris has inked a five-year, $17.5 million extension with the Ottawa Senators. The 23-year-old center set new career highs in goals (12), assists (17), points (29) in 49 games with Ottawa last season after he was acquired from Phoenix. He performed well as the team's second-line center and is expected to keep that role heading into next season.

Kyle Turris is thrilled that Daniel Alfredsson has decided to put off retirement and return for the 2012-13 campaign. The two will probably spend some time on the same line in 2012-13. "I'm really pumped," Turris said. "I can't wait to get back on the ice with him and not just feed him the puck on the same line, but at the same time just learn from everything he does in practice ... the keep-away drills we play at the end of practice ... and just keep watching and learning from him." Turris said that he prayed for Alfredsson's return "every night when I went to bed."

Kyle Turris is a player to focus in on in the late rounds of your fantasy pool draft. We expect the 23-year-old to be much better next season as he was not in the best shape due to his contract haggling with the Coytoes. Turris is planning a comprehensive training prgram this off-season and as a result we believe he will report to camp much stronger and in a better position to harness his vast amount of offensive talent. He is looking like a very solid sleeper pick to us.

Updating a previous item, Kyle Turris has returned to the game after taking a shot to the inside of his left knee. The center must've just taken a "stinger" to his knee, as he missed just a few shifts. Good news for the Sens.

Kyle Turris fulfilled a childhood dream by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime on Wednesday. "It was unreal," said Turris. "It was something where you grow up playing in the driveway, tennis balls on the net and the garage, just thinking that one day you'll be in the Stanley Cup playoffs scoring that goal. (Wednesday) night I got lucky that it was me." Thanks to Turris' efforts, the Senators have now tied their first round series at 2. The Senators took a big risk acquiring Turris from the Coyotes in exchange for a second round pick and prospect David Rundblad, but he has done well with Ottawa. Turris had 29 points in 49 regular season games with the Senators and another three points in four playoff contests.

Kyle Turris scored his first goal of the post-season at 2:42 of overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 triumph over the visiting New York Rangers Wednesday night. Turris' goal allowed the Sens to tie their opening-round, best-of-seven series with the Rangers at 2-2. The Rangers squandered a 2-0, first-period lead in this game. Defenseman Sergei Gonchar was a bright light for Ottawa, scoring a goal on a power play at the 17:50 mark of the third period before assisting on the game winner by Turris. Milan Michalek also picked up a goal for the Senators. Like Turris, the goals by Gonchar and Michalek were their first ones of the post-season.

Kyle Turris has two assists in three games during Ottawa's first-round playoff match-up versus the New York Rangers. He nearly had his first goal of the series in the final moments of Monday's 1-0 loss, but was stopped on a great save by Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist from in close. "That's one I have to get," said Turris after the game. "I had one like that to tie it up and send it to overtime and I missed on it tonight, but I won't miss in the next game."

Kyle Turris potted a goal in the Senators' 4-1 win over the Rangers Thursday night. Turris gave the Senators a 3-1 lead at 5:53 of the third period and never looked back afterwards. Turris has felt much more comfortable with Ottawa because he has been given the opportunity to be a top-six player. With the goal tonight, the Coyotes third overall choice in 2007 has sevens goals and 19 points in 35 contests since being traded to Ottawa from Phoenix.

Kyle Turris has potted one goal in his last 14 games. He has contributed just three assists over that span as well, so offense has been hard to come by for the Senators' second-line center. Turris has generated six goals and 18 points in 34 contests since being traded to Ottawa from Phoenix.
