Kyle Turris hasn't scored a goal in 16 straight games.
He has seven assists during his goal drought, but as the team's top center with Jason Spezza out of action much more is expected of him. Turris has 12 points in 20 games this year.

Kyle Turris' goal drought is weighing on him.
Turris, Ottawa's de facto center with Jason Spezza out, had four in his first four games, but that's been it. "It's, yeah, I mean any time you don't score for any period time, let alone a long period of time, it's very frustrating," he said. "You've just got to keep going and keep getting the opportunities and know that they'll eventually go in and, once they do go in, it'll be more than one to make up for the time missed."

Kyle Turris registered an assist on Sunday.
Turris has four goals and eight points in nine games this season. With Jason Spezza sidelined, the Senators will be counting on Turris to be one of their offensive leaders. That should mean big minutes for Turris, particularly with the man advantage.

Kyle Turris scored twice in the Senators' 4-0 win over the Panthers Monday night.
The Ottawa Senators have high expectations for Turris in this 48-game shortened campaign and he's certainly off to a great start. After going pointless in six games with Phoenix, he had 12 goals and 29 points in 49 games as a member of the Ottawa Senators last season. He's certainly worth a look in some of the deeper leagues out there.

The Ottawa Senators have high expectations for Kyle Turris this campaign.
Coach Paul MacLean said the team anticipates Turris to improve on what he did last season after he joined the Senators. "His confidence is better than it was," said MacLean. "His ability to skate - he's a year older and the work he's done fitness-wise, that gives you an awful lot of confidence. He's a much more confident player today." He scored 12 goals and 29 points in 49 games with Ottawa following his acquisition from Phoenix. He is slated to center the second line between Daniel Alfredsson and Guillaume Latendresse.

Kyle Turris said he enjoyed his time in Finland and is willing to return.
Turris was scrutinized for his negative comments about the road trips, which he called "horrendous," and the boring lifestyle, but he spoke publicly Thursday for the first time since the Globe and Mail quoted him about his experience. "I read it for the first time and I was extremely upset," Turris said after skating with fellow NHLers and university players. "It put a very negative characterization on my experience in Oulu. It was a great experience. I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to go. It was lots of fun. I talked to lots of guys and my roommate Jason Demers was a great guy. I learned a lot and, like I said, I would go back."

A statement from Kyle Turris appeared on Karpat Oulu's website on Wednesday to clarify why he left the team.
A story from the Globe and Mail had comments from Turris discussing issues he had with his time in Finland, but the Ottawa forward denied those remarks and was upset with the negative tone of the piece. "I read an article in the Globe and Mail today regarding my experience in Oulu. It made me extremely upset that it was so negative, and that it had very inaccurate and untrue information," he said. "I really enjoyed my time in Oulu, and those who are around me know that. I want to make clear that the sole reason I left is because of personal reasons that required me to be home with my family." He went on to thank the organization as well.

Kyle Turris' agent, Kurt Overhardt, said that a news story depicting the issues that his client had overseas "completely misrepresented Kyle's experience in Finland."
A story in the Globe and Mail had quotes from Turris complaining about the food, travel and language barrier. The 23-year-old also said there was "nothing to do" in Oulu when he wasn't playing hockey. He's expected to clarify his remarks on Wednesday, but his experiences aren't much different than other NHLers who have gone overseas and suffered a bit of a culture shock.

Kyle Turris is unsure whether he'll go back to Europe after the holidays.
The Senators' young center has spent the past two months in Finland, recording seven goals and 12 assists in 21 games. But he came back home, partially due to some homesickness. "It's going to be really nice to be at home for the holidays, with my fiancee [Julie] and my dog and my parents are flying in [from New Westminster, B.C.] for Christmas," said Turris. "Home is Ottawa now. That's where we're happy to call home." Turris said he's "keeping [a return to Europe] open right now," but is optimistic that decision will become easier because the NHL lockout will be solved.
