Versteeg registered an assist with a shot on goal and a plus-2 rating over 13:26 of ice time during Friday's game against Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg just signed with Calgary on Tuesday, and he was immediately handed a top-line gig alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. The veteran is past his prime and could find himself down the depth chart in short order, but his tidy outing Friday won't hurt his chances of sticking with Gaudreau and Monahan. For now, Versteeg has fleeting value in deep leagues, and he's worth using as a source of cap relief in daily contests.

Versteeg skated with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan on the top line during the team's morning skate Wednesday, Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia reports.
EDGE Analysis
What a turn of events for the 30-year-old, who signed a tryout contract with the Oilers before turning down an offer from them and signing with the Flames just a day before the season. Versteeg has recorded 313 points in 550 NHL contests, so it's somewhat surprising that Calgary will be the seventh team he's suited up for in his 10-year career. Nevertheless, poolees in every format need to take immediate notice to his assignment next to fantasy studs Monahan and Gaudreau, as there's real potential for serious fantasy value here. We won't have to wait long to see how Versteeg looks next to the youngsters, as the Flames open up their season Wednesday night in the latest round of the Battle of Alberta in Edmonton.

Versteeg agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Flames on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg spent training camp with Edmonton on a professional tryout but decided instead to sign with Calgary. The 30-year-old probably stands a better chance of getting on the ice with the Flames, rather than the talent stacked Oilers which likely influenced this move. Last season, the winger logged 77 games between Carolina and Los Angeles in which he recorded 15 goals and 23 assists. If his minutes are similar to the 10:34 he average during the 2015-16 campaign, Versteeg is certainly still capable of putting together a 40-point year.

Versteeg (undisclosed) returned to practice Friday, Bob Stauffer of 630 CHED reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg missed Tuesday's morning skate due to an undisclosed injury, but his presence on the ice Friday suggests the 30-year-old winger has overcome whatever was bothering him earlier in the week. The 5-foot-10 winger is participating in the Oilers' training camp on a professional tryout agreement, so he'll likely need to impress in Edmonton's final preseason game Saturday against Vancouver in order to secure a contract offer from the club.

Versteeg did not take part in Tuesday's morning skate after suffering an undisclosed injury, Oilers Radio analyst Bob Stauffer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Depending on the severity, this ailment could impact Versteeg's chances of securing a permanent contract with the Oilers. The journeyman has been part of a midseason deal in two of the last three season and could garner some interest if he is released from his PTO. Despite the frequent changes of address, the 30-year-old can still add some scoring depth, perhaps as a third or fourth line winger.

Versteeg signed a professional tryout offer with the Oilers on Friday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg was set to play in Switzerland with SC Bern, but his contract reportedly was voided due to insurance complications as related to a hip injury from 2012. Several players have signed PTOs so that NHL teams can have more bodies in training camp with the World Cup of Hockey coming up, but as a two-time Stanley Cup winner, one would think Versteeg has a legitimate shot of making the club. After all, he's a proven scorer with a chance to break camp and boost an Oilers team that ranked in the bottom-third for offense the past three seasons.

Versteeg is expected to become a free agent after "insurance complications" foiled his plans to sign with SC Bern of National League A in Switzerland, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dreger believes that Versteeg may have had problems obtaining full insurance coverage having had hip surgery four years ago, even though he's currently healthy. As a two-time Stanley Cup winner and offensive playmaker, the 30-year-old shouldn't have trouble finding a new NHL team on a short-term deal. It would be wise to keep tabs on Versteeg in fantasy drafts; come draft time, some of your league mates may be unaware that his Swiss deal fell through.

As expected, Versteeg agreed to terms on a one-year deal with SC Bern of the Swiss League on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
After being acquired at the trade deadline by Los Angeles, Versteeg was limited to just 14 outings due to a lingering foot injury. While his overall production on the year wasn't too bad, 15 goals and 23 helpers, the last thing teams likely remembered was the mere five points in 14 contests for the Kings. The 30-year-old will need a strong season with SC Bern in order to revitalize his career if he wants to suit up for another NHL roster.

Versteeg is expected to sign with SC Bern of the Swiss League this weekend, reports Darren Dreger of TSN.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg scored 15 goals and 23 assists in 77 games last year between Carolina and Los Angeles; it was his highest point total (38) in any season since 2011-12 when he delivered 54. While he could still perform in a bottom-six role for a contender, Versteeg may feel he can play a top-six role overseas.

Versteeg lit the lamp Thursday night in a win over the Ducks. It counts as his second goal in as many games.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg redirected a shot from teammate Brayden McNabb that hit the top of the post, but the winger stayed with the play and made good on the rebound attempt. Traded from the Hurricanes in late February, Versteeg has collected four goals and five assists in 13 games with the Kings. Given that he's only garnered 10:56 of average ice time in the new sweater, efficiency will be the key for Versteeg to consistently show up on the scoresheet. It appears that he's doing all he can in that department, as evidenced by a shooting percentage of 21.1 with the Silver and Black.
