Versteeg looked to be in a ton of pain after blocking a shot with the inside of his right knee during the first period of Thursday's tilt, but the veteran forward evidently just needed some time to shake the ding off in the locker room. He'll return to his role skating on the Flames third line for the rest of Thursday's game.

A great effort from Versteeg, who skated on the second line with Sean Monahan and was credited with five shots on goal. The veteran has gotten around over the past few years, but he was a great addition in Calgary last season, notching 15 goals and 37 points. He's most valuable on the power play, where he plays alongside Johnny Gaudreau, so take full advantage.

Versteeg re-signed with Calgary for one-year Thursday, Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

Versteeg nearly signed with Edmonton ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, instead landing with the Flames. In 69 games with Calgary, the veteran compiled 15 goals and 22 helpers on his way to a fourth straight 30-plus point campaign. The winger will no doubt continue to suit up on the power play where he averaged 2:33 of ice time and tallied 16 points. Despite being listed as a third-line player, Versteeg should provide solid fantasy production.

Versteeg was not protected from Wednesday's expansion draft.

EDGE Analysis

The 31-year-old winger hasn't been able to stay healthy for an entire season since the 2009-10 season. When he is healthy, he has been good for a half point per game and has always found himself on the power play. It's unlikely Vegas picks up Versteeg, though, especially with other options like Brian Elliott, Troy Brouwer, and Michael Stone being exposed.

Versteeg assisted on both Calgary goals in Thursday's 3-2 Game 1 loss, with one helper coming on the power play.

EDGE Analysis

Versteeg's multi-point effort helped his team grab a lead midway through the second, but Anaheim was able to rebound with a pair of unanswered goals. The veteran winger finished strong with three goals and seven assists in the final 10 games of the regular season, and is carrying that momentum over into the playoffs.

Versteeg potted a pair of power-play goals in Sunday's loss to the Ducks.

EDGE Analysis

Another very strong showing from Versteeg, who dished out two assists against the Sharks on Friday. The 30-year-old has been piling on the offense of late and has racked up almost half of his points this season with the man advantage. He doesn't play in the top-six, but his role on the top power-play unit and silky mitts make him worth a look right now.

Versteeg posted a power-play goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime win against the Red Wings.

EDGE Analysis

Versteeg hadn't scored in exactly a month, snapping a 10-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 3. He hasn't cracked the 40-point plateau since the 2011-12 campaign with the Panthers, and unless he catches fire it appears that streak is set to continue.

Versteeg has 23 points in 45 games this season, his first in Calgary.

The veteran's producing at a smidge better than a point-every-other-game pace, which has him on track to crack the 40-point plateau for the first time since 2011-12 with Florida. Much of Versteeg's steady production can be attributed to his 2:33 of average power-play time, which is the most since his Panther days, as well.

Versteeg has found twine twice in the last three games, giving him nine goals on the season.

EDGE Analysis

With 21 points in 37 contests, the journeyman is well on his way to topping last year's 38-point output with Carolina and Los Angeles. Eight of Versteeg's points have come with the man advantage, as well, and his average of 2:25 of power-play time is his most since 2012 with the Panthers, so he's delivering decent value in deeper leagues in his first season with Calgary.
