Versteeg is expected to become a free agent after "insurance complications" foiled his plans to sign with SC Bern of National League A in Switzerland, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.

Dreger believes that Versteeg may have had problems obtaining full insurance coverage having had hip surgery four years ago, even though he's currently healthy. As a two-time Stanley Cup winner and offensive playmaker, the 30-year-old shouldn't have trouble finding a new NHL team on a short-term deal. It would be wise to keep tabs on Versteeg in fantasy drafts; come draft time, some of your league mates may be unaware that his Swiss deal fell through.
