Versteeg (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg reportedly was held out of practice Tuesday with flu-like symptoms. The Hurricanes will host the Penguins on Friday, and it's best to wait for Versteeg to officially get cleared by the club before setting him back into fantasy lineups.

Versteeg didn't practice Tuesday due to an illness.
EDGE Analysis
The Hurricanes next game isn't until Friday against Pittsburgh, which may give Versteeg enough time to overcome the ailment that held him out of Tuesday's practice. Expect an update on the 29-year-old winger's status ahead of Friday's tilt.

Versteeg riffled five shots on net in Sunday's loss to the Canadiens.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg has now been held off the scoresheet in all three contests since the All-Star break, but he was more active around the net in this one. The 29-year-old is shooting at just an 8.7% clip, the second lowest mark in his career, so he could benefit from a bit better luck.

Versteeg netted a pair of goals in Sunday's win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg had been held without a point in three straight entering Sunday, but he was credited with the game-winner in this one after putting the Canes up 3-0 in an eventual 5-2 win. The 29-year-old is up to 30 points on the season and is shooting at just 9.7%, down from a career average of 11.1%, so he could be worth a look in deeper formats.

Versteeg notched a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime triumph against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
The replay of that goal is worth watching, as it was one of the more incredible pieces of luck you'll see -- the shot bounced off a Penguin's stick, then off the boards behind the goal, then bounced right back into the crease, hit off Marc-Andre Fleury's back and ended up in the net. Still, that's five points over a three-game point streak for Versteeg, whose fortunes have been rising along with those of linemates Elias Lindholm and Eric Staal. Those three have shown great chemistry lately, so Versteeg presents an intriguing short-term play in daily formats and shallower leagues where he's available on the wire.

Versteeg picked up two helpers in Friday's 4-1 win over Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
The pair of apples brings Versteeg within one point of the 300-point plateau for his career, which isn't bad considering he's played in 514 contests (0.56 points per game). He's got 24 points in 41 games in his first season with Carolina and should be able to best the 34 points he recorded last year with Chicago. Also, he shot just 6.2 percent in the first half of 2015-16 -- nearly a full five points lower than his career average of 11.0 -- so look for him to deposit a few more biscuits in the second half.

Versteeg picked up assists on both Carolina goals in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
He was credited with the primary helper on a pair of Eric Staal goals, so this was a banner night for the Hurricanes' embattled first line. It's been a pretty mediocre campaign overall for Versteeg, but he's picked up a goal and three assists with a plus-3 rating over the last four games, so he's in a bit of a warming phase.

Versteeg registered his first point in four games Monday against the Capitals, collecting a rebound from beside the net early in the third period, slipping the puck between his skates and flipping it into the net for his fifth goal of the season. It was the Canes' only goal of the night as they wound up dropping a 2-1 decision.
EDGE Analysis
Now with 18 points in 33 games, Versteeg is on pace for roughly 45 points this season, which would mark his highest full-year total since 2011-12 when he scored a career-high 54 points with Florida. That said, his fantasy value is somewhat diminished by the relatively weak supporting cast he's been saddled with in Carolina, but he should continue to deliver decent fantasy production from here on out, provided he can stay healthy.

Versteeg racked up a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Coyotes.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg's goal was only his third of the season to date, and snapped a 13-game goalless streak. He does have 13 assists on the season, though, which is good for the team lead.

Versteeg appears to be a healthy scratch for Saturday night's contest against the Canadiens, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg reportedly was excluded from the morning skate lines, and that's why he's bound to watch the upcoming game from the press box. Versteeg has 12 helpers in 25 games this season, but he's only scored twice on 45 shots and that has equated to an abysmal shooting percentage of 4.4.
