Jordan Eberle is happy that he got nominated for the Lady Byng Trophy, but he doesn't think he'll win.
The award goes to the player that exhibited "the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct" while also maintaining a high level of play. That typically translates to a player that got a lot of points while minimizing his penalty minutes. Eberle had 76 points and just 10 penalty minutes, so he certainly qualifies, but he doesn't consider himself the favorite. "Brian Campbell is probably the front-runner. I mean he had 50-some points, he was second in the league in scoring as a defenseman and had six penalty minutes. To do that and play 30 minutes a night as a defenseman is pretty difficult," Eberle said.

Eberle had a tremendous sophomore season, scoring 34 goals and 76 points in 78 games. He also spent just 10 minutes in the sin bin, which is important for the award giving to the player who both had an excellent year while still exhibiting "the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct."

Jordan Eberle had a goal, but the Edmonton Oilers came up just short in their 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.
The gifted winger has made a huge jump in just his second NHL season, a time that many young players often struggle. After scoring 18 goals and 43 points last campaign, he has 34 and 76 this year. Even more notably is that he's been pretty consistent all season. It wouldn't be shocking to see him reach the 40-goal mark very soon, possibly even next year. Sam Gagner notched the other goal, his 18th.

Eberle has been by far the best Oiler all season long, scoring at a point per game pace all season long. He has always been known as a goal scorer, but his playmaking skills have come greater than advertised, posting 41 assists thus far. He is a scoring machine that is only getting his career started, so keep rolling him out there.

Jordan Eberle had a say in both Edmonton Oilers goals in their 2-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
Eberle assisted on Taylor Hall's 22nd of the year in the second period, then notched his own (27th) less than five minutes later. The 21-year-old has five points over his last two games, with 60 overall to slot him ninth in the league in scoring. Hall has 45 points this season. Even though his point progression hasn't been quite as drastic as Eberle, he's still got three more points this season (50 games) than he did in his rookie year when he played 65. Ryan Whitney also had an assist.

Right wing Jordan Eberle has plenty of points and only four minutes in penalties, which has him thinking that he will be a strong candidate for the Lady Byng Trophy.
It's the National Hockey League's Miss Congeniality award. "I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but it would be an amazing honor, a pretty cool award to be mentioned for," Eberle said. "You look at who wins the trophy. It's (Pavel) Datsyuk, (Martin) St. Louis. Probably my two favourite players." Detroit Red Wings star Datsyuk has won it four times, Tampa Bay Lightning sniper St. Louis won it twice and was runner-up three times.
