Eberle (head) has returned for the Islanders on Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

When Eberle went to the dressing room after going face-first into the goalpost, it certainly didn't look like he would return to the game, but apparently he has passed all tests and is good to go. This is great news for the Islanders as they can't afford to lose one of the few goal scorers that they have.

Eberle was forced to leave the game Thursday after taking a cross-check that landed him face-first into the goalpost, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

While there hasn't been an update as to the condition of Eberle, he could barely stand on his skates and wobbled off the ice. The injury would seem to be a concussion although we will wait for the Islanders to declare it as such. This would come at an unfortunate time for Eberle as he was just starting to heat up with three goals in his last four games.

Eberle scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

The 29-year-old opened the scoring 18 seconds into the game after a Rangers turnover in front of Alexandar Georgiev, but the game belonged to the Blueshirts after that. Eberle had only one point, a goal, in his prior eight games, and on the year he's managed only five goals and 20 points through 34 contests.

Eberle scored his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Devils.

EDGE Analysis

With the Isles on the forecheck midway through the first period, Eberle was the recipient of a bad giveaway as he skated through the slot and he wired the puck past MacKenzie Blackwood. It was Eberle's first goal in nearly a month, ending a 10-game drought, and on the season he has a disappointing 18 points through 32 contests.

Eberle collected two assists in a 3-2 loss to Columbus on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Eberle played a role in both his team's goals, drawing secondary assists in both cases. It's been a frustrating season for the 29-year-old, points-wise, but Eberle has authored back-to-back multi-point games, picking up five assists over his last three games. For the season, he's scored three goals and tallied a total of 17 points in 25 games.

Eberle notched two assists in Saturday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Ducks.

EDGE Analysis

He helped set up tallies by linemates Anders Lee and Mathew Barzal in each of the first two periods. December continues to be very good to Eberle, who has three goals and 10 points through 10 games on the month.

Eberle scored twice, with one coming on the power play, in Monday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.

EDGE Analysis

It took a couple of months, but Eberle finally cracked the goose egg in the goal column with a power-play tally in the second period. He doubled down by adding an insurance marker in the third. The 29-year-old still has just seven points in 15 appearances this season. A five-time 50-point earner, Eberle is due for some positive regression after a rough start to 2019-20.

Eberle was practicing on the third-line Tuesday with Leo Komarov and Michael Dal Colle, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

Coach Barry Trotz didn't mention any names but was obviously upset at several players after losing 3-0 to the Ducks on Monday. Trotz called these players "passengers" and stated he would meet with them before the Isles play again Wednesday versus the Kings. Eberle has had a multitude of scoring chances since returning from an ankle injury but has yet to light the lamp the season. His stay on the third-line should be short-lived as this is not what the Islanders are paying him for but he may need to produce first before being moved back to a scoring line.

Eberle does not have a goal in 11 games so far this season for the Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

Eberle re-signed with the Islanders with a five-year $27.5 million contract this past June. Right now he's returning little bang for that buck. Eberle did miss 10 games with a lower-body injury earlier this season and perhaps that is still affecting his play but it wasn't like he was lighting up the scoreboard before the injury. Eberle is obviously frustrated as he snapped the blade off of his stick after missing a scoring opportunity Saturday in San Jose. The numbers aren't pretty but coach Barry Trotz still has Eberle on the top line and on the first power-play unit. The next chance for Eberle to break his scoring slump will be Monday in Anaheim.

Eberle (lower body) will return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Panthers, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Islanders don't appear to be planning on easing Eberle in following his 10-game absence, as he'll be skating on the first line and top power-play unit Saturday. The 29-year-old winger notched three helpers in five games before missing time due to a lower-body injury.
