The goal was just the fourth of the season for the sophomore forward, but he has also racked up nine assists along the way to bring him to a respectable point total. Ryan Smyth and Shawn Horcoff were the other goal scorers for Edmonton in the losing effort.

Plus he's a threat to score from anywhere and he's a nice threat from up there, too."

Henrik Karlsson and Mikka Kiprusoff split time in the Calgary, combining to allow three goals on 24 Oiler shots.

Jordan Eberle scored an absolutely gorgeous goal in Edmonton's 2-1 loss to Vancouver in pre-season action on Thursday. Eberle went around goaltender Manny Legace and put his backhander in after a nice feed from rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Veteran Owen Nolan, who is on a professional tryout in Vancouver after spending last season in Switzerland, opened the scoring for the Canucks and enforcer Mike Duco picked up the winner.
