Jonathan Toews might be ready to return from his upper-body injury, which is believed to be a hand or wrist issue, in Chicago's first contest following the All-Star break.
The Blackhawks play against their bitter rivals in Vancouver on Jan. 31 to begin a nine-game road trip. Toews is expected to travel with the team. He missed Tuesday's game with the ailment, but it isn't thought to be serious.

The Blackhawks placed Jonathan Toews on injured reserve Tuesday morning.
The center suffered what appeared to be a left arm or hand injury against Nashville on Saturday. Coach Joel Quenneville has noted that the injury is "not serious" and that Toews was not likley to participate in all-star events anyway. Toews is second in the NHL with 27 goals and ninth with 50 points. Chicago recalled forward Brandon Pirri for tonight's game against Nashville.

Jonathan Toews (upper body) will not participate in Tuesday's contest and will probably be forced to miss the All-Star Game.
Toews left Saturday's game in the second period with what might be a left wrist/hand injury. The good news is that the injury isn't believed to be serious and after Tuesday's game, the Blackhawks won't play again until January 31st.

Jonathan Toews left Saturday night's 5-2 loss to the Predators in the second period due to an upper-body injury.
Toews will be re-evaluated Monday as the Blackhawks are off on Sunday. Unofficially, it looks as if the injury is to Toews' left wrist or hand. For now the Hawks are saying their captain should be considered day-to-day, and for those relying on the talented Toews, we hope that is the case. There is a very good chance that Toews will not play again until after the All-Star break as there is no reason to rush him back when he can benefit from an eight-day respite.

Jonathan Toews scored two goals to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night.
The Hawks' superstar is red-hot, riding a five-game point streak. He has four goals and seven points in his past five games. Both of Toews' goals Wednesday were produced on power plays. They were his 25th and 26th goals of the season. Toews was one of six Chicago players with two-point nights. The others were Duncan Keith (two assists), Andrew Shaw (a goal and an assist), Brent Seabrook (two assists), Jimmy Hayes (a goal and an assist) and Dave Bolland (a goal and an assist).

Jonathan Toews is riding a four-game point streak.
Toews has two goals and five points in that span. After setting a new career-high with 76 points last season, we wouldn't be surprised if Toews reaches the 80-point mark in 2011-12. He already has 46 points in 46 games, which is good enough for 10th place in the NHL.

Jonathan Toews was struck by Duncan Keith's shot during Tuesday's contest, but fortunately he seems to have avoided a major injury.
Toews had two cuts on his forehead, but given the rash of concussions over the last couple of seasons, we can bet that there were plenty of fans concerned that he might have suffered something worse after they saw him fall to the ice. Toews eventually got up and headed to the dressing room for treatment. Fortunately, Toews was able to return and after the game, the possibility of a concussion didn't seem to be his greatest concern. "It hits me in the face and still doesn't go in," Toews said, referring to the fact that the puck hit the post after hitting him. "I'm not getting any bounces." Toews has gone four games without a goal, but we doubt that slump will last much longer.

Jonathan Toews scored a goal in a 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.
We have yet to reach the midpoint of the season and Jonathan Toews has already amassed 22 goals. Jonathan Toews' career high in goals is 34, if he is able to maintain his torrid pace Toews should have no problem eclipsing that total.

Jonathan Toews would definitely be in the race for the Hart Trophy if voting was done today.
Coach Joel Quenneville loves the all-round play of his captain and the fact that he is in the top 10 of scoring and tied for second in goals with 20 doesn't hurt his cause. "It's amazing, he just keeps getting better," Quenneville said. "Each and every year it seems as the season progresses he just gets better in all areas and a little bit more responsibility. He's a great young kid that you just think about how fortunate the organization is to have that type of guy as your leader and your captain." Needless to say, Toews is worth owning in all formats of fantasy hockey.
