Bernier stopped 20 of 23 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
The first two goals came within 28 seconds of each other in the first and it looked like the blowout was on. But the Leafs put on the pressure and Bernier followed, standing tall until a power play midway through the third. Bernier has three wins in 11 starts in 2016 and now plays behind what is essentially an AHL squad. They work really hard, but we don't expect many wins.

Bernier will defend the net on the road Wednesday against the Capitals, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier is hauling in a ridiculous $4.15 million annually before he'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2017-18. With Toronto being miles away from a playoff spot, the team can continue throwing Bernier out there with nothing to lose save for the potential of becoming even more embarrassed by that bad contract if he continues to struggle. Bernier owns a 3.12 GAA and .898 save percentage this season, while earning victories in just 25 percent of his appearances. Especially with the Leafs looking more like an AHL team, starting Bernier in fantasy is among the riskiest of propositions, let alone against a Capitals team with the league's best goal differential at plus-58.

Bernier made 32 saves in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier is the de facto starter in the Big Smoke now that James Reimer is headed west. We'll see how he fares with a punchless team in front of him and a fragile psyche inside himself. Alex Stalock, who arrived in the Reimer deal, could push him for playing time.

Bernier will start in net Saturday, facing the Canadiens on the road.
EDGE Analysis
Rolling out Bernier in fantasy leagues is a bit like consuming stale bread; it's anything but ideal, but sometimes that's all you have left in the cupboard. The good news is that the Canadiens, much like the Leafs, have already been sellers in advance of the Feb. 29 trade deadline, shipping out forwards Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann on Friday. Plus, the Habs have seen a litany of defenders fall to injuries. It's probably best to avoid goalies from either team Saturday, especially with alternate options aplenty on an 18-game slate.

Bernier earned just his seventh victory of the season Thursday, looking good while stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced. After the game, coach Mike Babcock confirmed him as Saturday's starter against the Canadiens, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier hasn't been great on the whole this season (evidenced by his 6-15-3 record), but the Maple Leafs look to run with any success between the pipes. As a result, Babcock will give Bernier another chance to keep things rolling Saturday over James Reimer. He'll prepare to face a Montreal club identical this month offensively to the Hurricanes club he faced Thursday, with both opposing teams having scored 29 goals over 11 games in February.

Bernier will get the start Thursday against the Canes, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has had a tough go of things of late, conceding three or more goals in each of his past four games including one where he came in off the bench and another where he was pulled. The Quebec native is 6-15-3 with a 3.17 GAA and a .895 save percentage this season.

Bernier was pulled 57 seconds into the second period of Saturday's game after giving up his third goal on 13 shots.
EDGE Analysis
There was another goal that was called back, too. Bernie's game was off Saturday and he's not exactly pulling rabbits out of hats for the woeful Buds. He's under contract for another season, but we're sure the Leafs would love to get out from under that ... just like fantasy owners do. Bernier's psyche is just a bit too fragile to play in a market like Toronto and he's quickly becoming a guy who might only be a solid backup.

Bernier will start in goal Saturday, taking on the Flyers at home, Jonas Siegel of The Canadian Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier hasn't won since Jan. 6, a span of six games. He's been tabbed for his second start in as many nights, but the Leafs don't have much to lose as they're sitting in the cellar of the league standings. Bernier is absurdly cutting $4.15 million from the cap this season, so the Buds would be wise to get as much out of him as they can. He's turned in a 3.09 GAA and .898 save percentage in 25 appearances.

Bernier gave up three goals on 19 shots Thursday in a 4-2 loss to the Rangers -- his fifth consecutive defeat.
EDGE Analysis
Toronto's not rolling out much of a lineup these days, but Colin Greening nearly bailed Bernier out with a late game-tying goal; unfortunately, he gave up the game-winner 59 seconds later. While it's hard to blame Bernier for any of the Rangers' goals -- particularly the late go-ahead tally by Derek Stepan, which came off an own-zone turnover by Morgan Rielly -- it's also hard to cut him much slack when his save percentage is under .900 for the year. This was his first start in a week, and he won't likely get another too soon with the Leafs not slated to play another back-to-back until early March.

Bernier has been named Thursday's home starter against the Rangers, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The cards are stacked against Bernier in this Eastern Conference matchup. For one, the Maple Leafs have seven skaters on injured reserve, a big reason why the club is just 3-4-0 in February. The more obvious negative for Bernier is that the Leafs are separated from the Rangers by a whopping 21 points in the standings. Lastly, consider that Bernier has unsightly rate stats (3.09 GAA and .899 save percentage) this campaign. He simply doesn't belong on fantasy rosters unless you're desperate for help between the pipes.
