John Gibson suffered an injury on Friday during a collision with Syracuse's Mike Angelidis. GM Bob Murray said the injury was not serious but the second period collision forced Gibson to miss the rest of the game. Gibson has an 8-5-3 record, 2.31 GAA and .928 save percentage for the Crunch this season and many regard the current Bob Johnson Award winner as the Ducks goalie of the future.

It was quite the tournament for the Anaheim Ducks' prospect.

He turned aside 30 of 32 shots but was bested by Canada's Malcolm Subban, who allowed only one goal on 33 shots. The Americans are now 1-2 in the tourney and do not have a realistic chance of finishing with a medal.

John Gibson stopped all 19 shots he faced against Germany in Team USA's 8-0 win on Thursday. Gibson spent 40 minutes between the pipes before he was replaced by Jon Gillies for the final frame. It's worth noting that Germany managed to get three goals against Canada earlier in the tournament, so shutting them out is no small accomplishment.
