After a quick goal by the Jackets in the third that knotted things up 3-3, Reimer and the Leafs poured it on, scoring three consecutive goals to emerge victorious for the first time this season. Head coach Mike Babcock has already indicated that Jonathan Bernier will get the start Saturday against Pittsburgh, so it very much appears that these two will be locked into a timeshare for now, making it tough to hone in on either as a reliable option for fantasy creases.

Reimer has been shaky thus far this season in limited action. He's appeared in two contests, posting a 2.86 GAA and .891 save percentage on the 46 total shots he's faced. He'll look to get on the right track Friday against a Blue Jackets squad that has netted a total of nine goals in their first four games of the season.

Reimer is expected to start Saturday's game in Pittsburgh, the Toronto Star reports.

With Jonathan Bernier slated for Friday's game in Columbus, Reimer will likely handle the second game of the back-to-back. Both goaltenders have struggled so far, albeit in a very limited sample size.

The Maple Leafs seemingly have an unsettled situation in net, as Jonathan Bernier has struggled mightily in his two starts, holding a 3.84 GAA, .865 save percentage, and 0-2-0 record. Reimer took over in relief in one of those contests before starting Saturday against the Senators, so coach Mike Babcock's decision on who to start for Friday's game against the Blue Jackets should reveal more information in terms of the order on the depth chart.

He was burned by his teammates' lack of discipline early in the second and ended up giving up three power-play goals in a span of 4:10. But he battled his way through the rest of regulation and the three-on-three overtime. He's still on the short side of the Leafs' goaltending ledger (for now), but could see increased time if Jonathan Bernier continues to be burned by in-game brain cramps.

It feels as though coach Mike Babcock, who has stated he wants a clear-cut starter, is leaning toward Bernier for that role: "(Bernier is) a good skater, he's smart, he's worked hard at his game. He worked hard this summer and I think he's shown that he can be a real good goaltender. We expect him to have a much better year." Reimer gets his shot Saturday and will press to change his coach's mind.

Reimer has outperformed Jonathan Bernier this preseason. He has a 2.36 GAA and .917 save percentage in 127 minutes, while Bernier has delivered a 3.62 GAA and .885 save percentage over 149 minutes.

Mike Babcock has gone on record saying both men are competing for the job and he's also said he wants a No. 1 goalie, not a 1A/1B scenario. Bernier has been the top dog for the last two seasons and we still think he will get the gig, but Optimus Reims is a battler. Stranger things have happened.

Reimer was pulled early in the second period of Wednesday's game against Columbus after allowing four goals on 20 shots. He was replaced by Jonathan Bernier. He's actually 2-1 in his last three games and has allowed just five goals in that span. That's flat-out hot for a Leafs' goalie, but we're not convinced there's any value here.
