Still, he should be motivated to reach that new milestone and makes for a quality streaming option in daily leagues Thursday, given that he'll be at home and facing a Sharks team that surprisingly ranks 24th in the league by averaging only 2.31 goals per contest.

The tidy outing improved Allen's record to 33-15-4 and save percentage to .924 through 54 games at Scottrade Center during his career. Still, Allen is just entering his prime and only in his first season as the undisputed No. 1 starter for the Blues. There is a lot to like about his upside going forward.

Technically, it was a four-on-four goal, coming four seconds after Alex Pietrangelo was released from the box, but it was the direct result of being down a man down for the first 21 seconds. The Blues have made habit of penalties this season -- they rank second in the NHL with 66 minor penalties, 28 of them taken in the third period, through 14 games. St. Louis is third in the NHL, killing 91.2 percent while a man down, but all that penalty-kill time eventually catches up to a goalie. With the Blues traveling to Nashville for the second of a back-to-back set Thursday, we may see Carter Hutton between the pipes to face his former team.
