Jake Allen was excellent Tuesday night in a 4-2 win over San Jose. He blocked 39 of 41 shots for his third straight victory. Allen raised his record to 6-1-0 on the year and he'll probably continue to start for the Blues because he continues to get the victories.

Jake Allen is expected to get the start in goal Tuesday night. Allen has started two of the Blues' three games since he was recalled on March 6. Jaroslav Halak made the other, an 18-save effort in a 4-2 loss to the Ducks on Sunday. At least for now, it appears like Allen has taken over the mantle as the Blues' main goaltender, although it's pretty clear that job can change hands in an instant. Feel free to roll him out Tuesday night, but be aware that he's allowed a total of six goals in his two previous starts.

Jake Allen blocked 22 of 25 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over San Jose Saturday. In two starts since rejoining the Blues from the minors, he has two wins despite allowing six goals against. His peripheral numbers may not be pretty, but he is giving the Blues some wins right now which should continue to get him some action.

Jake Allen will play between the pipes on Saturday. Allen has a 2.69 GAA and .893 save percentage in six games this season. After playing on Saturday, he's expected to warm the bench on Sunday.

Goaltender Jake Allen, summoned from the American Hockey League by St. Louis, helped the Blues defeat the Coyotes 6-3 in Phoenix Thursday night. Allen turned aside 23 of the 26 shots he faced from Phoenix. He was playing his fourth game in six days, having played the previous three in the AHL. He was called up by the Blues on Wednesday. Allen got the nod in the St. Louis net despite the fact that both of the Blues' veteran goaltenders -- Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak -- are healthy. Allen's performance may have been good enough for the Blues to seriously consider the notion of discarding Elliott, who has not enjoyed a good season.

As an interesting side note, Jake Allen's start on Thursday will be his fourth in six days. That's of course including three AHL games before he was summoned by the Blues. "I don't mind it," Allen said. "You want to get into the net, you don't want to leave the net. I didn't even know it was four games in six nights to be honest. I get another chance and I'm just going to make the most of it. I didn't know if I'd get another opportunity this year and fortunately I did." All the same, if Allen seems a bit underwhelming on Thursday, fatigue might be the cause.

Jake Allen will play between the pipes on Thursday. That's not too surprising given that they called Allen up on Wednesday despite the fact that both of their goaltenders are healthy. If Allen puts up a couple solid performances in a row, it might be very bad news for Brian Elliott. Elliott's been struggling to the point where he might not even be the Blues' number two goaltender despite his strong play last season.

St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong wouldn't confirm if Jake Allen would start Thursday, but he did say that Allen's recent call-up will give the team more options. "Ken (Hitchcock) makes the lineup card, but I wanted to give him that opportunity. I just felt that when (Tuesday's) game ended, we needed to look back on when we were having our most success, and what were some of the components, and Jake was one of those components," he said. "We think Jake has proven to be able to play at a high level over a short period of time." Armstrong maintains that the team has faith in Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliot, but "our goaltending to this point in the year hasn't been to the standard that's necessary to consistently win games."

St. Louis Blues recall G Jake Allen from AHL Peoria. The timing of Allen's recall is suspicious, considering Jaroslav Halak blew a 4-1 lead and allowed five goals against the Kings on Tuesday night. Allen made five appearances with the Blues while Halak was hurt, posting a 3-1-0 record, a 2.62 GAA and an .895 save percentage. Halak's backup, Brian Elliott, has been dreadful this year, but stopped seven of eight shots in 12 minutes after replacing Halak on Tuesday. It's unclear if the Blues plan to roster three goalies for the time being or whether Halak may have re-injured his groin Tuesday night. Stay tuned.

Jake Allen has been returned to AHL Peoria. In five appearances with the Blues, he posted a 3-1-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage. Allen filled in well for St. Louis while Jaroslav Halak was hurt and Brian Elliott was struggling. However, Halak is healthy again and Allen will continue to work on his game in the minors.
