Jake Allen will probably start the 2013-14 campaign in the AHL. The Blues don't plan to carry three goaltenders like they did for part of last season. "I just think he's got to continue to improve," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "I think he's a guy we see daily improvement, weekly improvement, he's a young guy that's learning how to play. He's in the unique position where he probably got games ahead of the curve through necessity last year and took advantage of it. Now everybody is excited." Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott will enter the season as St. Louis' keepers, but Allen does have some value in keeper leagues.
