Kevin Dineen called out goalie Jacob Markstrom after the team's 7-1 loss Thursday night. Markstrom gave up two goals on two shots in 3:10 before being yanked. "You give up two goals on two shots," said Dineen. "I don't like to leave anyone out to dry, but obviously I don't think Jacob Markstrom was ready to play tonight and the ball started to roll." Markstrom basically admitted to not being ready, saying, "I felt like I let the team down. I didn't stop pucks. It wasn't good enough."

Jacob Markstrom lasted all of three minutes in Thursday's 7-1 loss to the Capitals. Markstrom was beaten on each of the two shots he faced and was given the early hook. Unfortunately, his replacement didn't fare any better, as Scott Clemmensen allowed five goals on 24 shots in his stead.

Florida Panthers GM Dave Tallon said Tuesday morning that Jacob Markstrom will be the team's primary goaltender for the time being. Starting goalie Jose Theodore will be sidelined for five to six weeks with a groin injury, clearing a path for Markstrom to take his crack at the Panthers' No. 1 goalie job. Markstrom wasn't great in a pair of starts earlier this season, but at this point almost anything is better than Theodore. Markstrom is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues and bears watching in standard formats.

Markstrom should get a great opportunity in Florida with Jose Theodore's season possibly in jeopardy due to a groin injury.

Jacob Markstrom was held out of Saturday's contest in San Antonio as he is expected to be between the pipes Sunday against Carolina. After Saturday's contest, coach Dineen said starter Jose Theodore "would be out for some time". The big Swedish goalie now gets another chance to prove himself in the NHL and certainly has the makings to be a solid goaltender in the show. Markstrom is definitely an option for those in deeper leagues that are desperate for goaltending help.

Jacob Markstrom has been returned to AHL San Antonio. Markstrom lost both of his starts with Florida last week, but he held his own in those contests. He stopped a combined 65 of 71 shots. He'll get another chance to prove himself in the NHL sooner or later.

After winning his 2013 season debut, Jacob Markstrom and the Florida Panthers fell to the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Sunday. The big goalie stopped 28 out of 31 shots, with one goal being an empty-netter. He's acquitted himself pretty nicely, but with a crowded goalie situation alongside Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen, it remains to be seen if he can stay at the NHL level.

The Florida Panthers are rolling with Jacob Markstrom against the Boston Bruins on Sunday after he won his season debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday. The franchise's hopeful goalie of the future is getting thrown to the wolves matchup-wise. With a shaky duo in front of him in Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen, it wouldn't be surprising if Florida took a "future is now" approach with Markstrom. Keep an eye on his progress, but note he has limited room for error contract-wise.

Jacob Markstrom was very impressive in his NHL season debut Friday night against the Penguins. Although he allowed three goals and was saddled with a 3-1 loss, he stopped 37 shots and kept the Cats in the game. "It's disappointing,'' Panther coach Kevin Dineen said. "Marky played well. It's frustrating". As a result of this fine performance, we expect Markstrom to get the call in goal Sunday against the Bruins.
