Slavin snapped a five-game pointless drought with an assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Now with just four points on the season, Slavin has been a fantasy disappointment thus far, following his breakout 34-point effort from a year ago. That said, keep in mind Slavin's offensive zone start percentage is just 49.6%, lower than any other Canes blueliner, which suggests his opportunities to contribute on offense remain very limited. Bottom line, Slavin will be hard-pressed to crack the 30-point plateau again this season, given the amount of time he spends in his own end most nights. Govern your expectations accordingly.

Slavin had a phenomenal showing Tuesday against Edmonton, netting a highlight-reel goal, picking up an assist and blocking five shots in 27:34 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Not only did Slavin shutdown superstar forward Connor McDavid all night, but he also showcased his offensive potential with his first two points of the season. The 23-year-old broke out for 34 points in 2016-17 and could quickly become one of the most dynamic fantasy blueliners in the game. The youngster established himself as arguably the Canes' best defensemen last season, leading the team in ice time and registering a plus-23 rating, so look for him to reach new heights this year. The smooth-skating rearguard is the real deal and it would be wise to take notice before other fellow fantasy goers snatch him up.

Slavin has been held pointless so far this year, but is seeing roughly two more minutes of ice time compared to last season (25:22 vs. 23:26).
EDGE Analysis
Slavin continues to lock down a top-four role on the Canes' blue line, skating primarily on the second pairing with Brett Pesce. However, the team considers him more of a stay-at-home defender, meaning he is on the ice mostly in five-on-five and shorthanded situations. This does not create a great deal of fantasy value for Slavin outside of very deep formats, however he did lead the team last season in both blocked shots (161) and takeaways (83), so if your league counts peripheral stats such as these, Slavin may be of some value.

Slavin agreed to a 7-year contract extension with the Hurricanes, Terrell Williams of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin's contract is set to begin during the 2017-18 season and has an average annual value of $5.3 million. The 23-year-old posted career highs during his 2016-17 season, totaling 34 points, three goals and 29 assists.

Slavin recorded two assists and a plus-2 rating through 25:16 of ice time during Monday's overtime loss to Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
While there is a four-point game in the mix, Slavin has turned up his fantasy production with three goals, 11 assists, 31 blocked shots and a plus-11 rating through his past 16 games. Expecting the rearguard to maintain that offensive pace is ill-advised, but Salvin's a player on the rise going forward. There is potential for another step forward next year, which would make him a serviceable asset in most fantasy settings.

Slavin set up two goals in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin has been on fire in the last 11 games -- he has three goals and eight assists. And that includes a big four-point game that included a hattie against the Isles on March 13. Slavin is already the best Canes defender and his game is only going to get better and better.

Salvin scored three goals on three shots and added an assist during Monday's win over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
With just two goals and 24 points through 65 games entering Monday's contest, Slavin's outburst was a rare occurrence. He's established himself as an excellent real-world defender with an impressive 53.2 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five this season, but his offensive numbers don't move the needle in most fantasy settings. Carolina still has four more games this week, though, so Slavin is a potential grab in weekly formats.

Slavin recorded an assist for the fifth consecutive game Tuesday against the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Now with 24 points in 63 games, Slavin has already surpassed the 20 points he posted as a rookie last season, and should finish somewhere in the 30-35 point range. Slavin makes for an attractive mid-tier fantasy defenseman option, especially in those formats that count plus-minus as he currently leads his team with a plus-15 rating in that category.

Slavin was scoreless with a plus-1 rating in Friday's 3-0 win against the Senators, but he picked up four blocked shots and a minor penalty.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin has emerged as one of the best shot-blocking specialists in the Eastern Conference, posting 119 through 57 games. He has chipped in with a little bit of offense and his plus-10 rating is surprisingly good for a team just on the outside of the playoff race. He has emerged as a decent option in pools of 12 or more teams, especially for his blocked shot ability.

Slavin recorded an assist for the second consecutive game during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. The helper came on the power play, where he saw a season-high TOI of 6:04.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin is now up to 18 points on the season, and should easily surpass last year's total of 20 which he scored in 63 games as a rookie. Overall, Slavin continues to develop into a well-rounded, top-four caliber defenseman, thanks to the additional on-ice responsibility being afforded him by Canes coach Bill Peters. He still provides fantasy value in deeper formats only, but his stock is rising.
