Slavin now has a goal in back-to-back games, and he's averaging 23:21 TOI through three contests of manning the top defensive unit with Dougie Hamilton. With just eight goals in 82 games last season, Slavin may cool off at some point, especially since he isn't logging power-play minutes.

The blueliner has been a huge part of Carolina's success as they stand on the brink of sweeping the Isles in Game 4 on Friday.

Slavin notched three assists in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over the Capitals in Game 7 of their first-round series.

His first helper came on a short-handed tally by Sebastian Aho that got the 'Canes on the board in the second period after they'd fallen into a 2-0 hole, then Slavin set up Jordan Staal for tying goal and Brock McGinn for the OT winner, earning the game's first star in the process. Slavin was absolutely massive in the first round, finishing up with nine assists, 15 shots on goal and 20 blocked shots, and Carolina will need him to stay hot when they face the Islanders in the conference semi-finals beginning Friday.

Slavin blocked six shots and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-0 loss to the Capitals in Game 6.

Slavin has five assists in as many games in the series, and he's added 18 blocks and 11 shots on goal. His ability to contribute at both ends of the ice could make him a valuable DFS pick for Monday's Game 6.

Slavin has notched four assists in the last two games. The fourth-round pick from the 2012 NHL Entry Draft continues to grow into a valuable two-way defenseman for the Hurricanes as he has finished with at least 30 points in each of the last three seasons.

This is the 24-year-old's first taste of the playoffs, and it only took Slavin two games to put his name of the scoresheet. Slavin is also averaging 26:57 through two games in the playoffs, so while he is defensively-oriented, he'll have plenty of chances to chip in on offense as well.

In the process, the 24-year-old blueliner managed to crack the 30-point plateau for a second consecutive season, and now owns an identical stat line to last year (8G, 22A) with three games left to play. Slavin may not be an elite scoring defenseman in the NHL, but he's about as consistent as they come -- and that's worth its weight in gold in fantasy terms.

Slavin played his seventh straight game without a point Friday against the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

Slavin generated a lot of fantasy interest back in January with a nice run of 12 points in 15 games, but he's been very quiet since then, with just three points in his last 17 contests. Now with 28 points on the season with 12 games remaining, he will likely finish with something resembling the 30 points he registered last season. Slavin remains a decent, lower-tier blue line option in deeper fantasy formats.

Slavin snapped a seven-game pointless stretch with an assist in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Panthers.

EDGE Analysis

Prior to his mini-slump, Slavin had really been tearing it up with 14 points in 19 games dating back to Dec. 23, so it was nice to see him come back to life. For a guy who focuses mainly on his defensive responsibilities, Slavin now has 26 points in 61 games, and looks set to crack the 30-point plateau for the third consecutive season.

Slavin notched his seventh assist in his past six games Tuesday against the Penguins.

EDGE Analysis

Don't look now, but Slavin has been on a strong roll lately, with 13 points in 16 games since Dec. 31. Slavin is a big part of why the Canes are 11-4-1 over that stretch, and currently sit just three points out of a wild-card spot. Given his current pace, Slavin should finish the season with a point total somewhere in the mid-30's, and could even take a run at the 40-point mark with a strong push down the stretch. If you're in need of scoring help for your fantasy blue line, don't hesitate to grab him now while he's hot.
