Slavin picked up a secondary assist in Friday's 3-2 home win over the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin's efforts helped the Hurricanes extend their home point streak to 11 games. Here's a guy whose development is being fast tracked thanks to bench boss Bill Peters giving the second-year defender a whopping 23:12 of ice time per game this season. Expect that trend to continue as Slavin is a key cog on special teams; he's picked up four power-play points and two in shorthanded situations.

Slavin recorded an assist for the third consecutive game during Saturday's loss to the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin is now up to 10 points in 28 games, giving him a very good shot at surpassing the 20 points he posted as a rookie last season. He continues to skate in a top-four role on the Hurricane's blue line, averaging roughly 23 minutes of ice time per game. As such, he makes for a very respectable play in most medium to deeper fantasy formats.

Slavin was held off the scoresheet for the sixth consecutive game during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Canadiens. However, he did see 21:18 worth of ice time, including 2:31 on the power play.
EDGE Analysis
With just five points in 19 games, Slavin may just match his 20-point pace from last year, but he will need all 82 games on the schedule to do it. He continues to see solid minutes in a top-four role on the Canes' blue line, but his fantasy value remains confined to deeper leagues.

Slavin potted his first goal of the year just 34 seconds into Tuesday's game against Ottawa, but it was the only score the 'Canes managed in a 2-1 overtime loss.
EDGE Analysis
It was an impressive play from a guy who isn't well known for his scoring ability. After picking up a loose puck that was ping-ponging around the neutral zone, Slavin suddenly caught a burst of speed and blew past three Ottawa players -- one of whom sold out for a poke check that missed badly -- straight to Craig Anderson's net, then fired a pretty backhander right through the veteran. The 22-year-old has three points in nine games to open the year, and his 22:07 of average ice time is promising, but Slavin is still seeing nearly zero power-play time. It's going to be hard for him to offer much more offense than this on a fairly lackluster Carolina team if he doesn't get to join in on the man-advantage action.

Slavin posted his first point of the season, assisting on the eventual game-winning goal Thursday against the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin enjoyed a terrific debut season with the Canes last year, ranking fifth among rookie blueliners with 20 points. This year, he's already seeing more ice time compared to last year (22:11 vs. 20:59), although a significant portion of that is being spent on the penalty kill (4:38). For now, given his top-four role on the Canes' blue line, Slavin represents a decent mid-tier fantasy defenseman option in most standard formats.

Slavin scored a first-period goal in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout victory over the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie defenseman has just 20 points this season, but does have points in back-to-back games. He has three points in the last five games, but has only taken four shots on goal, and picked up just two PIM over the stretch. Given his lack of production for much of the season, it's tough to justify a roster spot for Slavin in most fantasy formats.

Slavin broke an eight-game pointless drought with an assist in Thursday's 3-2 win over Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin played his usual 20+ minutes (21:01), but unfortunately saw his power-play ice time dry up with Justin Faulk's return to the lineup. With 16 points in 55 games, Slavin has been a pleasant surprise for the Canes in his rookie season, however he remains confined to the lower tier of fantasy defensemen for the time being.

Slavin put up the first multi-point game of his career Tuesday in New Jersey, notching two assists (one on the power play) in a 3-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Slavin's been seeing steady minutes since early February, though he's offered only modest fantasy rewards -- six helpers and 19 shots in the last 13 games. However, it looks like shipping John-Michael Liles out of town has opened up some power-play minutes for the 21-year-old. It's impressive how he's carved out a full-time NHL gig pretty much straight out of college, so even though Slavin isn't the most exciting fantasy player out there, it looks like he has a bright future ahead of him.

Slavin recorded an assist for the second consecutive game in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
With 13 points in 41 games, the 21-year-old Slavin is putting together a decent rookie season with the Canes. He started the season averaging roughly 15 minutes per game, but those minutes have risen to over 20 per game as the coaching staff now has greater confidence in his abilities at both ends of the ice. He's still a third- or even fourth-tier fantasy option at this stage of his young career, but give him time.

Slavin recorded an assist in the Hurricanes' last game prior to the All-Star break -- a 5-0 win over the Blackhawks on Jan. 26.
EDGE Analysis
With just nine points in 32 games this season, Slavin still doesn't score much, but he's been seeing top-four minutes for the Canes lately. In January, Slavin averaged almost 22 minutes per game (21:45) in 13 games, posting five assists and a plus-3 rating over that period. The Canes have proven they are not afraid to give their young, up-and-coming defensemen (Slavin, Noah Hanifin and Brett Pesce) prime-time minutes, and the results are starting to show. Slavin's fantasy value remains low in most standard formats, but it's on the rise. Those of you in keeper formats, take note.
