Don't look now, but Slavin has been on a strong roll lately, with 13 points in 16 games since Dec. 31. Slavin is a big part of why the Canes are 11-4-1 over that stretch, and currently sit just three points out of a wild-card spot. Given his current pace, Slavin should finish the season with a point total somewhere in the mid-30's, and could even take a run at the 40-point mark with a strong push down the stretch. If you're in need of scoring help for your fantasy blue line, don't hesitate to grab him now while he's hot.

It was the defenseman's first multi-point game in over a month and with it, Slavin is now up to 21 points this season. His final assist of the evening came on Lucas Wallmark's power-play goal. The negative side of Slavin continues to be the lack of consistency in his game, as well as his minus-14 rating, tied for second worst on the team.

Now with just 14 points after 40 games, Slavin will likely once again flirt with the 30-point plateau, especially since he's seeing much more time on the power play this year (averaging 2:11 per game, compared to just 0:37 last season). However, if you're in a league that counts plus-minus, his team-worst minus-16 rating isn't going to help you. He probably fits best as a depth defenseman in most formats, so use him sparingly.

That usually puts him in around the 30-point mark by the end of the season. Not spectacular by any means, but if you drafted him with that level of production in mind, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Given the Canes' improved offensive attack this season, if Slavin continues to see similar minutes, the points will come.
