Slavin (COVID-19 protocol) won't play in Thursday's game against Tampa Bay, Fox Sports Florida reports.

At this point it isn't clear if the top-pairing defender will be available for Thursday's clash with the Panthers, assuming that contest is played as scheduled.

Slavin scored a goal and an assist during Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rangers in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Qualifier.

More impressive, perhaps, is his eye-popping plus-30 (!) rating, which happens to be tied with Hamilton for third in the NHL. Hamilton is paired with Slavin at even strength over 70 percent of the time, so it's clear that this duo is quietly one of the most effective in the Eastern Conference.

Slavin notched two assists, one on the power play, in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.

The 25-year-old blueliner continues to produce. Slavin has one goal and 10 points over the last 11 games, and he should remain a strong fantasy asset down the stretch even if the Canes bring in defensive reinforcements at the trade deadline to help cover for the loss of Dougie Hamilton (leg).
