Anaheim GM Bob Murray must decide what he will do with impending unrestricted free agents Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. "It's my priority," Murray said, addressing the topic on the first day of training camp Sunday. "They've been Anaheim Ducks. I love those guys. I'm going to do everything in my power to sign them." While there were negotiations before the lockout, everything had to be placed on hold during the 119 day work stoppage but Murray plans on getting together with their respective agents shortly. It will be a huge blow to the Ducks if they should lose any one or both of their stars.

Corey Perry thinks that the Ducks will either get off to a good start or won't make the playoffs at all. "You get behind the eight-ball early and you can pretty much pack your season in," Perry said. "It's going to be crucial that we're ready to play from the start to get going. We've got to be pushing right from the get-go." Teams won't get much room for failure in a 48-game season. One prolonged cold streak or a bad month could be crippling.
