Corey Perry is off to a slow start as he has found the back of the net only once in 11 games this season. Perry has six points and 16 penalty minutes to go with a plus-two rating but these are not the stats expected when he was likely drafted in the late first or early second round. "I put pressure on myself," Perry said. "Everybody expects big things. I obviously haven't been scoring but it's definitely different if we're 2-8-1 or whatever. Obviously, they'll come if I just keep shooting the puck." The Ducks have an 8-2-1 record and take on the 10-0-2 Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday.

The Anaheim Ducks were irate after their 3-1 loss to Dallas Friday night because they felt Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas got away with a spear against one of their star players, Corey Perry. "What do you want me to say?" Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau asked rhetorically. "Good refs have bad games. Like good hockey players have bad games, good refs have bad games." Perry said: "When he sticks his stick up, lifts it up and pulls it, I don't know what you'd call that. That's spearing to me." The Ducks' Brad Staubitz was penalized for seven minutes for retaliating with a spear against Dallas rookie Brenden Dillon. "I don't know," Perry said. "You've just got to call the first one and all that (stuff) doesn't happen. But they're in their own league tonight, I guess."

Corey Perry assisted on Daniel Winnik's tying goal late in the third period, then was the only player to convert in the shootout to help the Ducks defeat Nashville 3-2 Saturday night. This capped off Perry's solid fantasy week to start the year with 4 games played, 1 goal, 3 assists and 9 penalty minutes.

Anaheim GM Bob Murray must decide what he will do with impending unrestricted free agents Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. Both players will become UFA's if they are not re-signed by July 1, and Murray will have a big decision on whether to deal them or risk getting nothing in return should the duo or either one decide to bolt and test free agency. "It's my priority," Murray said, addressing the topic on the first day of training camp Sunday. "They've been Anaheim Ducks. I love those guys. I'm going to do everything in my power to sign them." While there were negotiations before the lockout, everything had to be placed on hold during the 119 day work stoppage but Murray plans on getting together with their respective agents shortly. It will be a huge blow to the Ducks if they should lose any one or both of their stars.

Corey Perry thinks that the Ducks will either get off to a good start or won't make the playoffs at all. "You get behind the eight-ball early and you can pretty much pack your season in," Perry said. "It's going to be crucial that we're ready to play from the start to get going. We've got to be pushing right from the get-go." Teams won't get much room for failure in a 48-game season. One prolonged cold streak or a bad month could be crippling.

Corey Perry took to the ice with the London Knights of the OHL on Thursday. He joined his old junior club for practice and talked about the strangeness of working out in the OHL on the day that the NHL regular season was supposed to begin. Perry played with the Knights for four productive seasons before heading to the Ducks. He has one year left on his current contract and could become a high-profile unrestricted free agent. When a new CBA is reached it will be interesting too see what the NHL landscape looks like because it might impact negotiations.

The Anaheim Ducks want to sign Corey Perry to a contract extension before or during the season. He could be a big ticket unrestricted free agent next summer if the two sides cannot come to terms. The current climate of the CBA can't be helping the talks, as both sides probably want to see what salaries will look like when the dust settles. The scrappy winger is an excellent goal scorer and a former Hart Trophy winner, so his price tag will be high no matter what happens.

Corey Perry scored a goal and registered an assist in a 5-4 shootout loss Tuesday. After winning the 2010-11 Hart Trophy, Perry has taken a significant step back. He has 37 goals and 60 points in 78 games and is poised to snap his streak of three straight 70-plus point seasons. The good news from a fantasy perspective is that he surpassed that 100 penalty minute mark for the fifth straight campaign, so he's still one of the best all-around contributors out there.

Corey Perry had 19 penalty minutes in the Anaheim Ducks' 4-0 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. It's been a frustrating year for Perry and the Ducks, who have disappointed this season. Even in a game when they generate 44 shots on net, they still can't get on the board. Perry is sixth in the goal-scoring race with 36 goals, but with 58 points, he'll come way short of his 98-point campaign from last year. Bobby Ryan had a game-high seven shots.
