According to the Denver Post, the Broncos are expected to "monitor" whether the division rival Raiders show interest in Kyle Orton this week after losing Jason Campbell for the season. The remaining portion of Orton's $7.4 million base salary would be prohibitive for most teams, but the Raiders are a contending 4-2, and there's no question Orton would be a better option the rest of the way than Kyle Boller. Orton is in the last year of his contract and just got benched, so the Broncos would probably take pennies on the dollar to ship him out of town. They could shed the salary, and might be willing to move him for a seventh-round pick.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos are unlikely to deal Kyle Orton before the October 18 trade deadline. "He's going to finish the season in Denver," said Schefter on SportsCenter, "...because of that overbearing salary." Orton has a $7.379 million base salary, and any interested team would have to pay the majority of it if they were to acquire him. ESPN's John Clayton also considers an Orton trade unlikely. The Broncos should be kicking themselves for not completing an Orton trade when they had the chance with the Dolphins in late July.

ESPN.com's Bill Williamson believes Kyle Orton has likely played his last snap with the Broncos. Coach John Fox insisted Tuesday that his quarterback position is ongoing evaluation and that Tim Tebow is not locked in for the rest of the season. If Tebow struggles, though, the Broncos will likely give Brady Quinn a chance before revisiting Orton. Denver has one week to shop Orton around before next Tuesday's trade deadline.

Kyle Orton has been removed as the starting quarterback of the Broncos. Orton was placed in a difficult situation from jump street. The Broncos had a deal in place to trade him to Miami in the preseason and then his own fans were chanting for Tim Tebow starting Week 1. Still, Orton's on-field play was inexcusable. He went 1-4 in five starts, throwing seven interceptions, losing two fumbles and posting a 75.7 quarterback rating. Orton will head into free agency after this season with a down arrow.

Kyle Orton is 4-13 in his last 17 starts. Coach John Fox has been steadfast in his belief that Orton gives the Broncos the best chance to win. But the numbers say otherwise. If they lose to the Chargers Sunday, the Broncos will be 1-5 and Orton is headed for free agency after the season. It wouldn't make much sense to keep trotting Orton out there.

Following Sunday's loss to the Packers, coach John Fox reiterated that Kyle Orton is his starting quarterback.

Broncos HC John Fox insists he remains confident in Kyle Orton. "Right now, in our opinion, Kyle gives us the best chance to win," Fox said Monday. Orton has gotten off to a very poor start this season, averaging just 224 yards while completing only 57.3 percent of his passes. His 6.11 YPA is 26th in the league, and he's clearly not the same player without former OC Josh McDaniels orchestrating the offense. Fox and Broncos' vice president John Elway may not be the ones responsible for using a first-round pick on Tim Tebow, but at a certain point they need to see what he's got.

Kyle Orton completed 24-of-39 passes for 173 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Broncos' Week 3 loss to Tennessee. In a checkdown-filled passing game, Orton managed a paltry 4.43 YPA average and is now at 6.11 on the season. The Denver offense is run-oriented in nature, and doesn't run smoothly when the team is playing from behind. On Sunday, it showed up in a struggling Orton's performance. Through three weeks, he has five TDs and three INTs and has topped 200 passing yards once. Continue to consider Orton a QB2 only as he prepares to face the Packers in Week 4.

Kyle Orton completed 15-of-25 passes for 195 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's win over the Bengals. Orton lost Brandon Lloyd right before kickoff and Eddie Royal early on due to groin injuries. That likely played a role in Orton's meager 25 passing attempts, but the bottom line is that John Fox wants to run the ball to win at all costs. Orton will be a weak QB2 against the Titans next week.

Coach John Fox reassured that there's no quarterback controversy in Denver. "It wasn't just the quarterback by any stretch," said Fox. "Kyle is our starting quarterback and I don't think too many guys are firing all their guys because their team happened to lose in week one." The Broncos staff believes Tim Tebow just isn't ready yet, so Orton will have to deal with the fan base's displeasure on an ongoing basis.
