Broncos HC John Fox insists he remains confident in Kyle Orton.
"Right now, in our opinion, Kyle gives us the best chance to win," Fox said Monday. Orton has gotten off to a very poor start this season, averaging just 224 yards while completing only 57.3 percent of his passes. His 6.11 YPA is 26th in the league, and he's clearly not the same player without former OC Josh McDaniels orchestrating the offense. Fox and Broncos' vice president John Elway may not be the ones responsible for using a first-round pick on Tim Tebow, but at a certain point they need to see what he's got.
Kyle Orton's trade value diminishes with each game he starts now that Josh McDaniel's is gone. Tim Tebow collects dust on the sideline, and the fans become more irate at the broncos think tank. Nothing like building fan ire into a fevered pitch to bring out the angry village mob with pitchforks and torches to demand that the monster be burned at the stake so that peace can be upon the village once again.
Orton becomes the scapegoat as soon as the fan ire hits a high enough pitch to make John Elway's ears burn. John might want to keep Tebow dusted off and ready for inserting any day now.
