Indy's linebacking corps struggled against the pass Sunday. Bostic doesn't look like much of an upgrade on a per-play basis from last year's problematic linebacking squad, but he may get a lot of opportunities to make tackles with a defense that will struggle to get off the field.

Bostic is expected to play Sunday against the Rams, and he's slated to be a starting inside linebacker with Antonio Morrison. The University of Florida product hasn't played a snap since 2015, when he recorded just two tackles in 11 games for the Patriots, but he was banged up for most of the season. Bostic has the "football IQ", and he proved it in 2014 when he racked up 84 tackles in 13 games. Nevertheless, being so far removed from his last regular season game, Bostic is a wait-and-see at this point.

Bostic, who underwent surgery Saturday to insert a small plate in a fractured finger, played with a club-like wrap on the afflicted hand Tuesday. While it isn't clear how long he'll need the appendage, it doesn't sound as if Bostic's practice availability is in question moving forward. However, his availability for Saturday's preseason matchup with the Cowboys is far less certain.
