Andre Johnson (hamstring) insists he will not play unless he feels "comfortable" by Sunday. "If I don't feel like I can play, I'm not going to go out there," said Johnson. "I definitely won't do anything to put myself in any danger." Johnson increased his workload in Thursday's practice, but he's still not over the hump. "You're encouraged, but when you're not where you want to be, that's a little bit discouraging," Johnson said. "I'm encouraged. I improved from where I was at yesterday, so that's a good thing."

Andre Johnson (hamstring) was less optimistic than coach Gary Kubiak after practice for a second straight day. "I felt a lot better in practice," said Johnson, "but not where I want to be." Johnson still feels some "tugging" in the back of his leg, but the good news is that he pushed himself harder by doing one-on-one drills with cornerbacks Thursday. Asked if he would play Sunday, Johnson replied, "I'm not sure yet. We're just taking it day by day." Kubiak has deemed his star receiver a game-time decision.

Coach Gary Kubiak indicated after Thursday's practice that Andre Johnson (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt against the Jaguars. Kubiak continues to be on the optimistic side. "He was better today. He told us that he felt better," said Kubiak. "He had his normal day of practice ... We took another step forward." With Thursday's step in the right direction, we now suspect Johnson will play barring a Friday setback. Since Tuesday, Johnson has jumped 10 spots to No. 4 among fantasy receivers in Rotoworld's Week 8 rankings.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Texans believe they'll know Thursday whether Andre Johnson (hamstring) will be able to play in Week 8 against the Jaguars. Johnson didn't feel good immediately after Wednesday's practice, so the Texans want to see how his body responds 24 hours later. At this point, Johnson looks no better than 50:50 to play in Week 8. A rigorous Thursday practice would be a big step in the right direction. No practice would bode quite poorly.

Andre Johnson wasn't nearly as optimistic as Texans coach Gary Kubiak when discussing the health of his surgically repaired hamstring Wednesday. Johnson revealed that he felt "tugging" in the leg when he was trying to run at full speed, indicating that the hamstring isn't healed. "I wouldn't say I felt great (today)," Johnson said. "I didn't feel how I expected I would feel. ... If I feel the way I feel today, I probably won't play Sunday. But, you know, today is not Sunday." The Texans face the Jaguars in Week 8.

Andre Johnson (hamstring) practiced on Wednesday, and after the workout coach Gary Kubiak declared that Johnson took a "huge step" toward returning to game action. Kubiak described the practice as a full workout consisting of team drills, and says it'll be "day to day" whether Johnson plays in Week 8. Kubiak also said Johnson "looked good running" routes. The Texans will see how Johnson's surgically repaired hamstring bounces back Thursday after the intensive practice. Currently, he appears to have a good shot to play against the Jaguars.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Andre Johnson (hamstring) will practice Wednesday. Per Kubiak, Johnson has "got a chance" to play against the Jaguars Sunday. They'll monitor his progress in practice this week to make sure he's not in danger of aggravation, but all signs for now are positive. Return man Trindon Holliday was waived Tuesday, an indication Jacoby Jones will resume his punt return role.

In his Monday press conference, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said there's "definitely a possibility" that Andre Johnson will return from his surgically repaired hamstring to play in Week 8. Johnson is expected to practice this week "at some point" after running routes at full speed late last week. A Wednesday return to the practice field would bode particularly well. The Texans will face off with the Jaguars in Week 8.

Andre Johnson (hamstring) ran routes at close to full speed during Friday's practice. Johnson is getting close. He's inactive today, but suggested it's possible he'll play against the Jaguars in Week 8. Still, coach Gary Kubiak said "there's still another step for [Johnson] to take" before the Texans are comfortable activating him for a game. We likely won't have a better read on Johnson's status until Wednesday.

Texans declared WR Andre Johnson, TE James Casey, QB T.J. Yates, CB Brandon Harris, OT Andre Gardner, DE Tim Bulman and OG Thomas Austin inactive for Week 7 against the Titans. Jacoby Jones will continue to fill in for Johnson opposite Kevin Walter against a top-12 pass defense. Johnson's status for Week 8 against the Jaguars remains up in the air. Trindon Holliday is active and expected to function as the primary returner this week.
