Andre Johnson (hamstring) missed Texans practice Friday and has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Titans. The Texans had hoped Johnson would get in some practice time late this week, but he never did. Jacoby Jones will get a third straight start at split end, with Kevin Walter at flanker and Derrick Mason in the slot. The Texans figure to struggle in the passing game Sunday. Tennessee has a top-12 defense against the pass, limiting opponents to just 5.8 yards per pass attempt. Only the Steelers, Lions, and Ravens have been less generous.

Andre Johnson (hamstring) was held out of practice again on Thursday. Johnson is not expected to play this week against the Titans. He's been doing side work, though, so there's still a chance he will return to play the Jags in Week 8.

Andre Johnson (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, but was able to run routes and catch passes off to the side. The Texans' Week 7 plan appears to involve Johnson returning to limited practice reps later in the week. He would sit out one more game and return in Week 8 (in an ideal scenario). "There's still progress to be made," acknowledged coach Gary Kubiak. "Maybe he gets on the field and practices before the week's out. I don't know right now. But he continues to progress."

Coach Gary Kubiak conceded Wednesday that "it would be a reach" to say Andre Johnson (hamstring) will play against the Titans Sunday. After Johnson admitted Tuesday that he was originally given a six-week "at most" timetable, owners should just be hoping he gets back for Week 8. This Sunday will mark just three weeks since Johnson went down in a heap against the Steelers and subsequently had hamstring surgery. Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones and Derrick Mason will once again be the Texans' top three wideouts Sunday.

Andre Johnson revealed Tuesday that doctors initially informed him his recovery from hamstring surgery "could take up to six weeks at most." Johnson is ahead of schedule after already sitting out two weeks. "I don't think it will take me that long," said Johnson. "I'm headed in the right direction. I just want it to heal faster. Right now it's still weak; it's not as strong as it used to be." Johnson can't be expected to play this week, and his status for Week 8 against the Jags is now in question.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak suggested Monday that Andre Johnson (hamstring surgery) could get in some practice time this week. Johnson's most likely return date remains Week 8, but he's making progress. "He made a lot of improvement last week," said Kubiak. "We'll increase his work. I have a hard time saying right now (if he'll play at Tennessee). Maybe there's a chance he sees the practice field before the end of the week." Fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on Johnson to play in Week 7.

Although Andre Johnson (hamstring) is not expected to play this week, coach Gary Kubiak is encouraged by his progress. "He's getting better and better," said Kubiak. "... It's put a smile on a lot of people's faces. ... Obviously, he's got still some time to go. But with what's going on, you just feel so positive."

Texans coach Gary Kubiak conceded Wednesday that Andre Johnson (hamstring) is "unlikely" to play in Week 6. Johnson is unlikely to be ready before Week 8, realistically. The Texans' game-day wide receivers against the Ravens are likely to be Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones, KR Trindon Holliday, and either Derrick Mason or Bryant Johnson.

The Texans are expected to sign free agent WR Juaquin Iglesias to their practice squad on Wednesday. It could mean nothing, or it could mean something. On the heels of Tuesday night's Derrick Mason acquisition, CBS Sports' Mike Freeman is speculating that the receiver additions suggest Andre Johnson's recovery from hamstring surgery is going slower than anticipated. The Texans insist otherwise, but it's a situation to monitor. The Iglesias signing would put three wideouts on Houston's practice squad, joining Dominique Edison and Jeff Maehl.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Andre Johnson's hamstring "soreness has gone away, and his rehab has picked up." "We'll see where he's at each week," Kubiak said Monday. Johnson won't play against the Ravens Sunday, but the Texans aren't yet ruling him out for Week 7 at Tennessee. Still, the most likely return date remains Week 8 against the Jagaurs. Remember that the Texans held Arian Foster out an extra week earlier this season to protect his hamstring from aggravation.
