Matthews (hip) is planning on returning to the court Sunday versus the Thunder, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews will be returning off of two absences due to a hip injury. The issue does not appear to be too serious, as the Mavericks are likely exercising caution with their veteran small forward. Look for confirmation on the Marquette product's status closer to game-time Sunday.

Matthews (hip) has been ruled out of Friday's game against the Grizzlies, Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Friday will mark the second straight absence for Matthews, whose troublesome hip also kept him out of action Wednesday in Atlanta. The hope is that Matthews will be able to return for Sunday's game against Oklahoma City, but the team will continue to handle his status on a day-to-day basis. Expect Seth Curry and Dorian Finney-Smith to again see increases in minutes Friday.

Matthews is listed as "out" for Wednesday's game against the Hawks due to a hip injury.
EDGE Analysis
The news comes via the Mavs' official game notes, but neither Matthews nor the team has provided any details regarding the ailment. For what it's worth, Matthews has struggled since the All-Star break, averaging just 8.7 points on 6-of-20 shooting (4-13 3Pt), while playing at least 30 minutes in all three contests. In his absence, Dorian Finney-Smith could enter the starting lineup at small forward; or, coach Rick Carlisle could opt to go with a more traditional look, with Dirk Nowtizki and Harrison Barnes shifting down to power forward and small forward, respectively. In that scenario, either Salah Mejri or recently acquired Nerlens Noel would enter the lineup at center.

Matthews collected 20 points (7-10 FG, 6-8 3Pt), six assists, four rebounds and one steal over 25 minutes in Saturday's 112-80 victory over the Magic.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran two-guard was highly efficient, managing his third 20-point effort in six February contests despite playing his lowest amount of minutes since Jan. 22. Matthews has been outstanding from the field in the last three games in particular, shooting 59.5 percent (22-for-37) over that span. He was on fire from long range Saturday, with his six three-pointers equaling his second-highest total on the season.

Matthews went for 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and five assists over 42 minutes in Thursday's 112-105 overtime victory over the Jazz.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews joined Harrison Barnes and Seth Curry as the three Mavs players to tally over 40 minutes, his second game hitting the 40-mark in the last four. The veteran two-guard had also logged 39 minutes against his former Blazers teammates on Tuesday, but he's only eclipsed the 20-point mark just twice over that span despite the extended opportunity. However, Matthews has actually shot well despite the modest production, posting a 55.5 percent success rate (15-for-27) over the last two games, and 47.5 percent overall in five February contests.

Matthews posted 23 points (9-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, two rebounds and one steal across 39 minutes during a 114-113 loss to the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews continued his good run of scoring as he eclipsed the 20-point mark for the third time in the last five games, two of which have come against his former team. Prior to this 20-point run, he had not topped 20 points since Dec. 12 against the Nuggets. It's not often that Matthews, who is shooting just 40.1 percent from the field so far this season, shoots above 50 percent in a game. In fact, he has accomplished that feat just eight times so far this year, so his owners should enjoy the good shooting performances a little extra whenever they occur.

Matthews (hip) has been cleared to play against the Spurs on Sunday and isn't expected to be on any sort of minutes restrictions, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews has missed the last two games with a right hip strain, but after testing out the injury during Sunday's shootaround, he's now feeling healthy enough to take the court. Look for Matthews to jump back into the starting lineup at shooting guard, which should push Dorian Finney-Smith back to the bench. Matthews is expected to take on his normal allotment of minutes, so fantasy owners should feel comfortable getting him active.

Matthews (hip) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Spurs, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews, who has missed the last two games with a strained right hip, was able to return to practice Saturday, so he's likely on the probable side of the questionable tag. The swingman is expected to go through the Mavs' morning shootaround, and if all goes well, he'd likely reenter the starting lineup at one of the wing spots.

Matthews (hip) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Spurs, Earl K. Sneed of the Mavericks' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews' right hip sprain has kept him sidelined for back-to-back contests, but he was able to practice Saturday as he figures to be back in the starting lineup Sunday. If any sort of setback occurs, Dorian Finney-Smith could see an increased role at small forward.

Updating a previous report, Matthews (hip) will sit out both Wednesday's game against the Knicks and Thursday's matchup with the Thunder, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews is reportedly dealing with a hip strain and after clearing him to play earlier Wednesday, they've now back tracked and are opting to keep him out for the upcoming two contests. That leaves Sunday's outing versus the Spurs for his next opportunity to play, although we should see his status updated at some point earlier in the weekend. With Matthews out, look for Dorian Finney-Smith and Justin Anderson to pick up the extra minutes made available on the wing over the next two contests.
