Matthews went cold Wednesday in a 95-85 loss to the Pistons, as he tallied four points (2-10 FG, 0-5 3Pt), four assists, four steals and two rebounds across 38 minutes.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews had scored at least 25 points in the last three games, marking his best stretch of play on the year. Wednesday's game was the first time this season in which he did not make a three-pointer and the first time since Nov. 25 that he did not reach double figures in scoring. On the bright side, the four steals were a season high for eighth-year guard. Matthews will look to get his shooting touch back Friday at Utah.

Matthews tallied 25 points (10-14 FG, 5-7 3Pt), four rebounds and two steals across 32 minutes in Monday's 112-92 win over the Nuggets.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews is starting to catch fire after a cold start to the season, with the swingman hitting 25 points for three straight games. The 10-of-14 outing from the field was his best mark of the season, and he's knocked down 46.7 percent of his attempts and 46.3 percent of his three-pointers dating back to the start of the month. Those that stayed patient with Matthews are finally beginning to reap the rewards.

Matthews scored 26 points (8-16 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 5-8 FT) and added four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 36 minutes in Friday's 111-103 win over the Pacers.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews is shooting below 40 percent on the season for a second straight campaign with the Mavericks, but he's made notable gains in that department of late. Since a 2-of-8 effort from the field against the Cavaliers back on Nov. 25, Matthews has hit a respectable 45.2 percent of his field goals and 48.5 percent of his three-pointers. Unsurprisingly, the added efficiency has had a positive effect on his scoring, with the 30-year-old averaging 20.7 points over that seven-game stretch.

Matthews put up 26 points (9-17 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Saturday's 107-82 win over the Bulls.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews is still shooting an abysmal 36.6 percent from the field on the season, but he's at least been a solid source of scoring and three-pointers. He's topped 20 points in three of the last four games while going 19-of-41 from downtown during that stretch. It's unlikely that Matthews will show much improvement with his shooting efficiency from here on out, but fantasy owners who can take the hit in the field-goal percentage department may want to look to acquire him via trade.

Matthews finished with 21 points (7-14 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 39 minutes in Sunday's 91-81 win over the Pelicans.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews' awful shooting has mostly marred his fantasy output to date, but he seems to have made some noticeable improvement on that front of late. He's averaging 15.6 points and 3.6 three-pointers per game over his last six contests while shooting 43.2 percent from the field and an outstanding 49 percent from distance. With the 30-year-old starting to heat up, he may be worth a look in shallower formats if an impatient owner dropped him amid his early-season struggles.

Matthews scored 20 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-7 FT) and added five assists, four rebounds and one steal across 40 minutes in Monday's 96-91 loss to the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
The Mavericks have been hit hard by the injury bug this season, forcing Matthews and Harrison Barnes to assume massive workloads and more responsibilities than expected on the offensive end. While Matthews has been a picture of durability in his first two seasons with the Mavericks and even recovered from a hard fall in the first half of Monday's game to turn in another high minute count, he hasn't looked like the same player since tearing his Achilles tendon late in the 2014-15 season, when he was still a member of the Trail Blazers. Though Monday was one of his better games of the season, he's shooting just 32.9 percent on the season, a hard pill for fantasy owners to swallow while he's putting up a career-high 12.9 field-goal attempts per game.

Matthews provided 22 points (7-15 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and two steals across 38 minutes in Wednesday's 90-83 loss to the Celtics.
EDGE Analysis
Though Matthews has been a solid contributor in terms of counting stats this season with averages of 13.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 three-pointers, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 37.3 minutes, he's squandered most of the value in those numbers by shooting 31.4 percent from the field on a career-high 13.4 attempts per game. He was at least able to turn in one of his more efficient shooting outings of the season Wednesday, and the 2-8 Mavericks are certainly going to need more of those if the team is to work its way back into the playoff picture. The Mavericks took hits to their backcourt with Deron Williams (calf) and J.J. Barea (calf) exiting early Wednesday, so if both are unavailable for Friday's game against the Grizzlies, Matthews and Harrison Barnes could be looking at a higher volume of shots than usual.

Matthews will not play in Wednesday's game against the Warriors to rest, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews will rest on the second of back-to-back games for the Mavericks and then will have off until next Monday, where he is likely to return along with J.J. Barea and Andrew Bogut. Justin Andersen will start at shooting guard in place of Matthews.

Matthews provided nine points (3-17 FG, 3-14 3Pt), three steals, one assist and one rebound across 44 minutes in Sunday's 86-75 overtime win over the Bucks.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews' average of 37.7 minutes per game rank near the top of the league, but he's hardly been deserving of such a hefty workload. The 3-for-17 outing Sunday sunk Matthews' season mark from the field to 27.6 percent, and his three-point percentage (24.1%) is even more anemic. The volume the 30-year-old is receiving is too significant to justify dropping him in most formats, but until he shows more proficiency with his shooting, it may be wise to keep him on the bench before he does any further damage to a team's field-goal percentage in rotisserie formats.

Matthews (foot) took part in morning shootaround Wednesday, with coach Rick Carlisle indicating afterward that the veteran would be available for the game later in the evening against the Jazz, Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews sat out Tuesday's practice with a reported foot injury, but it was likely just a maintenance day for the swingman, who is averaging a whopping 39.3 minutes per game over the Mavs' first three games. Carlisle will presumably look to scale back Matthews' workload a bit now that Dirk Nowitzki has recovered from an illness that sidelined him the last two games. Nowitzki's absence had forced Matthews to take on a greater responsibility as a scorer.
